What is your understanding of the issue that you are seeking to address?

The issue facing the Pacific Palisades is the loss of community, and a public park/green space that served as a community gathering place after the Palisades Fire. The close-knit residents of the Palisades need a place that represents, and can serve as, a beacon of hope and renewal after the ordeal of the fire.

Describe the project, program, or initiative this grant will support to address the issue.

The grant will support funding the restoration of The Palisades Recreational Center, a valuable community asset destroyed by the Palisades Fire. The current design includes tennis courts (lighted), football field (lighted), baseball diamond, basketball courts (lighted), children’s play area, indoor gym, picnic tables, BBQ pits, and more.

Describe how Los Angeles County will be different if your work is successful.

The restoration and rebuilding of The Palisades Recreation Center will be a significant milestone for Los Angeles as it recovers from the Palisades and Eaton Fires. The completion of the Park and Recreation Center will not only shine a light on a successful public-private partnership, but give hope to fire-affected communities that their lives and the lives of their neighbors can be restored, and made better.
