What is your understanding of the issue that you are seeking to address?

We are addressing two intersecting issues: inequitable access to healthcare for low-income seniors and adults with disabilities, and the lack of opportunities for these populations—and their caregivers—to engage with technology and creative industry employment. Many individuals in underserved communities face barriers to consistent, culturally competent healthcare, leading to preventable health declines, isolation, and diminished quality of life. At the same time, caregivers and younger adults in these households often lack pathways to upward mobility through tech or creative careers due to limited exposure, training, and support. Our initiative aims to bridge these gaps by providing holistic adult day healthcare services while also integrating intergenerational programs that introduce digital literacy, creative skills, and career pathways in tech and the arts.

Describe the project, program, or initiative this grant will support to address the issue.

This grant will support the launch of an innovative Adult Day Healthcare (ADHC) center in Los Angeles that combines essential health and social services for low-income seniors and adults with disabilities with intergenerational programming focused on digital inclusion and creative industry exposure. The center will provide culturally competent medical and therapeutic care, nutritious meals, and social activities to improve health outcomes and reduce isolation. In parallel, we will host workshops and mentorships in technology, media, and the arts—engaging family caregivers and community members to build skills, explore career pathways, and foster economic mobility, particularly in communities historically excluded from these industries.

Describe how Los Angeles County will be different if your work is successful.

If Unique Adult Day Healthcare work is successful, Los Angeles County will be a more inclusive and equitable place where seniors and adults with disabilities—especially in underserved communities—can thrive in dignity, health, and connection. Families will experience reduced caregiving burdens, improved access to supportive services, and new opportunities for workforce participation. By bridging healthcare access with intergenerational tech and creative programming, our initiative will foster stronger community ties, reduce social isolation, and open pathways to economic advancement, ultimately creating a healthier, more resilient Los Angeles for all.
