Join the Census "9 for 9" Challenge!

Posted May 1, 2020 by LeAnn Kelch

Are you ready to be counted? The 2020 Census determines our representation in Congress and influences how billions of dollars are spent every year on schools, healthcare, housing, transportation, and other vital programs in our communities. But we won't get an accurate count in 2020 unless everyone participates. That's why LA2050 and the Los Angeles Mayor's Office created the Census “9 for 9" Challenge!

The Census “9 for 9" Challenge encourages census participation through a chain of social media tags challenging friends and family members to answer their nine census questions and be counted! (Nine questions x nine friends = Census “9 for 9"!)

Here's how you can join:

  • STEP 1: Complete the census for your household at my2020census.gov using the unique Census ID sent to you in the mail. (Don't have an ID? You can still fill it out using your address)
  • STEP 2: Take a photo or video as you complete the nine questions, obscuring any personal information, to share on social media.
  • STEP 3: Publish your post on Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter and tag nine friends to challenge them to participate, using #CensusChallenge and #Census9for9.
  • STEP 4: Engage with the other #CensusChallenge and #Census9for9 posts by commenting, liking, and resharing!

Thanks for doing your part to ensure LA is counted!
