Unearth and Empower Communities

Unearth and Empower Communities brings bilingual, hands-on STEAM education straight into the heart of Compton—a city rooted in culture, creativity, and community. Our Houses of STEAM program engages K–6th graders in creative, project-based learning, including building solar LEGO cars, mapping moon phases with Oreos, and turning vibrations into visual art. With BIPOC mentors, participatory field trips, and arts at the center, we spark confidence, creativity, and connection while setting children on early pathways to future careers in STEAM.

Compton Youth Career Pathways (CYCP) is a workforce readiness program launched in 2024 that equips youth ages 13–25 with the academic and interpersonal skills needed for employment, entrepreneurship, or college success. With 100 hours of training and another 100 hours of paid internships with local businesses, students gain hands-on experience, mentorship, and confidence in their career journey. As the capstone of Unearth and Empower Communities’ cradle-to-career pipeline, CYCP is transforming economic mobility in Compton—one job at a time.
