Partnership for Los Angeles Schools

The Partnership for Los Angeles Schools plans to expand our K-PhD program, an enrichment initiative designed to prepare low-income students of color in the Los Angeles Unified School District for STEM careers. This program integrates advanced STEM coursework, community-building activities, and personalized support to build students' problem-solving and critical-thinking skills, aiming to increase the number of Black and Latinx students pursuing STEM degrees and careers.

Partnership for Los Angeles Schools will further expand our K–PhD program by growing our STEM Club Network—a K-12 enrichment initiative set to increase Latinx and Black student representation and retention in STEM pathways. By introducing affiliate STEM clubs, we will boost extracurricular STEM programs at 14 public school sites and provide personalized support, doubling the number of students currently served. K-PhD shines as a scalable model for empowering future Black and Brown STEM graduates and professionals—including PhDs.

All young people, regardless of race, ethnicity or zip code, have the right to a high-quality K-12 education--one that builds the skills, knowledge and resilience needed to complete a 4-year college and gain greater economic mobility. The Partnership for Los Angeles Schools College Compass program (high school component) prepares students through initiatives including college-readiness tracking and best-fit advising. With a network of highest-need LA Unified schools, we incubate programs intended for the broader impact of LA Unified adoption.

Each young person—regardless of skin color or income—has the right to graduate high school well-prepared for success in college and a subsequent career. Through innovative school transformation programs, the Partnership for Los Angeles Schools catalyzes dramatic academic improvements in the 14,000 high-need students enrolled in our network’s 18 LA Unified schools. Our groundbreaking College Compass program further engages and inspires students & parents on the K-12 pathway preparing for college.
