Connecting Youth with Media Arts Education

LACP's Outreach Program offers after school photography workshops and experiences for youth ages 12 - 18 from historically underserved communities. The self-expression that comes with artistic learning promotes better health and well-being as youth have the opportunity to express their feelings as well as explore their likes, and dislikes constructively. Art inherently builds on youths' emotional development, helping them find their space within themselves as well as their community.

    LA Photo Hub

Over the past two decades, the Los Angeles Center for Photography (LACP) has supported photographers from beginners to professionals. Adults and kids from a broad spectrum of backgrounds have learned foundational and cutting edge photography techniques that have empowered them to tell compelling stories and reach their fullest potential of self-expression. My LA2050 will allow LACP to continue to advance our programs and to grow and fulfill our mission by offering more free events and exhibitions, as well as scholarships for underserved kids.

Los Angeles Center of Photography Brings Life Changing Photography Classes to Boys & Girls Clubs

LACP will bring a year-long digital photography program to four Boys & Girls Clubs in LA County. Youngsters from 10-18 learn basic digital photography skills, followed by portrait, street photography and documentary classes, focused on their lives and communities--but also exposing them to careers. LACP will host a final exhibit for each group in Hollywood—heightening student self-esteem by following through with a long-term creative project and helping mount the show.
