Heart and Soul Center

Heart and Soul Design Communications Center uses innovative multimedia education to help South LA youth transform their lives. With this grant, we’ll train 350 low-income and system-involved young people in multimedia, design, and tech—building skills, confidence, and career pathways. Situated within a neighborhood too often called “Death Alley” for its high homicide rate, we help youth tell their stories, reimagine what’s possible, and choose better paths.

Our program is closing the gap in education and learning for youth and individuals in the South LA community by enable individuals to utilize multiple modalities of learning with new and different methods of learning, based upon student's knowledge, needs, interest, and talents. Our program will help close opportunity gaps as well as long-standing inequities in community investment, education, and socioeconomic outcomes among low-income communities of color.

CHIME levels the playing field by ensuring that students excel as productive world citizens through a futuristic oriented program characterized by dynamic academic curriculum, excellence in teaching/learning & the optimal use of technology. We foster a positive environment for students to discover and express their creative voice by bringing the imagination of young minds to life through media. CHIME also emphasizes lifelong learning through our benchmark ACT (Attitude, Commitment, Teamwork).
