About this job

The objective of this position is to provide oversight and financial leadership, reporting and ensure regulatory compliance, operational efficiency and manage the physical assets of the YWCA Greater Los Angeles.

Roles & responsibilities

-Manages the accounting and general ledger activities of the accounting team through direction of the CFO.

-Responsible for the accurate preparation of financial statements, ensuring compliance with the reporting requirements of governmental, funding and other authoritative and regulatory entities.

-Manages and directs specified financial transactions and related accounting activities for the Association, assigning appropriate classifications for income and expenses, through coordination with CFO.

-Develops, maintains and supervises all functions associated with a payroll system that meets the needs of the Association and complies with all tax, insurance, governmental and retirement regulations.

-Provides for fiscal and budget allocations and expenditure tracking required by new and continuing grant applications, and for the preparation of all periodic financial reports as required by funding sources.

-Reviews the fiscal procedures of all government, community and private grants to ensure that accounting standards are maintained and are in accordance with the funding agency's requirements.

-Knowledgeable of general ledger and makes recommendations to financial processing in collaboration with the CFO.

-Assist department heads with monthly budget departmental and program report review and budget variances, providing management with variance analysis and explanations.

-Select, train, motivate and evaluate financial personnel assigned to Finance team. Provide leadership, supervision, and mentorship to finance personnel, fostering a culture of teamwork professional growth, and accountability.

-Prepare and oversee the annual external audit, ensuring compliance with all reporting requirements and transparency in financial disclosures.

Qualifications

-Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or business administration

-At least 5 to 7 years working experience in non-profit accounting, government contract accounting and budgeting

-Must be computer literate with latest software, computer system conversion experience and extensive knowledge of Excel spreadsheet applications

-Minimum three years supervisory experience

CPA designation a plus

-Thorough knowledge of non-profit accounting, budgeting and government-contract accounting, fiscal management, and GAAP

-Working knowledge with federal, state and local funding terms and conditions

-Thorough knowledge of fund accounting
