UBH seeks a bright and highly-motivated individual with excellent critical thinking ability to help grow our
community of supporters and advance our mission to end family homelessness in Los Angeles. This dynamic
role combines volunteer leadership, donor engagement, and fundraising operations, making it an excellent
opportunity for a development professional looking to deepen their experience in nonprofit fundraising while
managing meaningful community partnerships. Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, the Associate will
oversee UBH’s volunteer program while managing a portfolio of approximately 100 small to mid-level
individual donors, helping to strengthen donor relationships and build the pipeline for future major gifts.
Roles & responsibilities
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Volunteer Engagement
1) Lead UBH’s volunteer program including recruitment, onboarding, scheduling, and stewardship.
2) Manage corporate volunteer days, group service projects, and community partnerships.
3) Lead volunteer stewardship efforts, including appreciation, recognition, feedback collection, and donor
conversion opportunities.
4) Track volunteer data, hours, demographics, and impact stories for reporting and grants.
5) Coordinate in-kind donations, including Adopt-A-Family and other volunteer-driven giving programs.
Individual Giving & Donor Engagement
1) Manage and cultivate a portfolio of 100 small to mid-level individual donors.
2) Conduct donor outreach through calls, emails, notes, and event invitations.
3) Support donor retention and upgrades through personalized stewardship and engagement.
Development Operations
1) Maintain donor and volunteer records in Salesforce CRM.
2) Process donations and acknowledgements and support donor stewardship efforts.
3) Assist with fundraising events, donor communications, and annual giving campaigns.
4) Conduct prospect research and prepare reports on donor and volunteer engagement.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
1) 2–5 years of experience in nonprofit administration, development support, or volunteer coordination.
2) Strong relationship-building and communication skills.
3) Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
4) Experience with CRM systems, data entry, reporting, and gift processing (Salesforce preferred).
5) Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a strong customer service mindset.
6) Experience supporting fundraising events and donor engagement activities.
7) Highly detail-oriented with strong follow-through.
8) Passion for social impact, community engagement, and housing stability.
Professional Growth Opportunity
This position is designed as a launchpad for a career in frontline fundraising. The Development & Volunteer
Coordinator will gain hands-on experience managing donor relationships, stewarding volunteers and
supporters, and contributing directly to UBH’s fundraising growth. Working closely with the Chief
Development Officer, the Coordinator will develop skills in:
1) Donor relationship management.
2) Portfolio fundraising and moves management.
3) Volunteer-to-donor pipeline development.
4) Fundraising campaigns and donor communications.
5) Event-based donor cultivation.
High-performing candidates will have the opportunity to grow into larger donor portfolios and expanded
fundraising responsibilities over time as UBH’s development program continues to expand.
