POSITION: VP, Israel Education and Advocacy

DEPARTMENT: Community Engagement

SALARY: $95,000 – $115,000

EXEMPT/NON_EXEMPT: Exempt

FULL-TIME/PART-TIME: Full-Time

POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Senior Vice President for Community Engagement, this position is responsible for leading and executing The Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles’ initiatives related to Israel education and advocacy.

Roles & responsibilities

PRINCIPAL DUTIES

• Within the team environment of Community Engagement staff, direct the creation, expansion and integration of the Federation’s Israel Education and Advocacy activities including the oversight of the Holy Land Democracy Project and its staff.

• Responsible for the development of strategic plans for expansion of the Israel Education and Advocacy programs.

• Design and execute effective educational programs that inform and educate stakeholders about Israel's history, culture, and current events.

• Provide guidance, create messaging and develop organizational content around Israel and antisemitism.

• Represent and speak about the work in many diverse forums.

• Create and implement evaluations relative to strategic goals of expanded programs.

• Supervise and manage a team of professionals who support JFED-LA’s Israel education and advocacy efforts. Recruit and develop lay leadership.

• Build and maintain strategic partnerships with individuals and organizations that share JFED-LA’s mission and goals. This may include other non-profit organizations, government officials, and private sector entities.

• Coordinate seminars and missions to Israel to strengthen government/community relation efforts.

• Liaise with Campaign, Communications, and other Federation departments as needed.

• Participate in collaborative Federation and community planning process with other program and campaign colleagues.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES

Be available to supervisor for additional assignments, as required, including assisting with the Campaign..

Qualifications

• BA required, Advanced degree in Jewish education, Jewish communal service, non-profit management, or community social work preferred.

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in Jewish Federation or Jewish communal field required.

• Knowledge of Judaism, Israel, and the needs of the Jewish community in Los Angeles and abroad required.

• Experience in program planning and budget administration required.

• Working knowledge of appropriate software programs and office systems required.

• Fluency in Hebrew preferred but not required.

• Must be able to travel in US and overseas.

• A hybrid work model will be implemented for certain positions. This position must report to worksite on non-remote workdays
