About this organization

The Southeast Asian Community Alliance (SEACA) is a community-based organization founded in 2002 whose mission is to develop youth leaders to build power in refugee, immigrant, and low-income communities. Our work focuses on affordable housing, fighting displacement, and creating vibrant neighborhoods of opportunity. We do this through youth and community organizing, policy advocacy, and coalition-building. SEACA works primarily with Southeast Asian as well as Chinese, Latine, and African American youth in the Chinatown, Solano Canyon and Lincoln Heights neighborhoods of Los Angeles.

About this job

The Youth Trainer will lead in the recruitment, retention, and training of new high school members to SEACA’s youth programs and provide outreach support to our other community programs. This will include building relationships with staff and faculty at local schools and community organizations, engaging in ongoing follow up activities to ensure robust turnout to SEACA meetings and events, and developing social media content to inform SEACA members and the general public about SEACA programs and activities.

The Youth Trainer will also implement a series of weekly workshops for new youth members focused on concepts of social justice, community development, personal growth and relationship building. They will design activities, chaperone youths on outings and events, build camaraderie, and create a supportive environment that helps youth feel empowered and engaged. The Youth Trainer will also provide support to the Youth Organizers Program.
