JOB SUMMARY
The Individual Giving Manager (IGM) oversees strategy, infrastructure, and execution of Sharefest’s major gift and annual giving programs. The IGM is responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining a robust major gift program that includes outreach and engagement of planned giving efforts. They will execute all aspects of the major gift plan, including research and identification of prospects; cultivation and relationship management of the portfolio; proposal development and solicitation; and ongoing stewardship of donors. Success will include the ability to increase the retention and generosity of Sharefest’s major donor base.
The IGM will also develop and execute the annual giving strategy for individual donors giving less than $5,000 per year. They will manage the integrated use of a variety of direct response methods including but not limited to direct mail, email, telephone, internet and digital channels. Success will include the ability to increase the retention and generosity of existing donors while meeting new donor acquisition goals.
Roles & responsibilities
Responsible to: Executive Director
Major Gifts – 50%
- Direct a growing donor-centric major donor program, working closely with the Executive Director and Board of Directors to ensure that these efforts are integrated with all of Sharefest’s existing development and outreach work.
- Manage Sharefest’s major gifts portfolio; qualifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding these individuals by conducting visits or touch-points each month with current and prospective donors.
- Cultivate and expand current giving and planned giving donors and integrate planned gift objectives into major individual donor requests in collaboration with the Executive Director.
- Monitor weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual data to achieve major and planned gift commitment goals.
- Initiate and manage prospect research on individuals through the organizations files, giving records, online resources and through donor giving databases.
- Ensure that all aspects of donor giving are accurately recorded and reported and that all donor/prospect tracking is consistent with protocols.
- Serve as a member of the development team and participate in selected program and other job related internal meetings.
- Build relationships with board members to clarify and direct board-driven fundraising activities.
Annual Giving – 50%
- Executes Sharefest’s annual giving calendar across multiple channels and segments including copywriting, production, and data collection of all appeals.
- Ensures robust donor engagement and high-quality appeals while maintaining the tools and systems to automate this strategy.
- Manages acquisition strategies to ensure we are generating new leads, donors, email subscribers, and social media followers.
- Feeds major gift pipeline and builds mid-level donor segments through targeted communications.
- Manages Ad Hoc message creation and copywriting for the organization’s communication calendar.
- Maintains and increases Sharefest’s individual donor retention rate across all donor types.
- Maintains and improves individual donor relations by ensuring accurate and timely handling, recording, receipting, thanking and acknowledgement of gifts and related data.
- Establishes and manages information tracking for cultivation of past and current donors to enhance their relationship with Sharefest and increase the likelihood of continued contributions.
- Supports donor relations through relationship and trust building. Be personable and able to relate to donors, and show genuine interest in donors’ interests. Provide excellent in person, phone and online customer service.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Two+ years managing a major gift portfolio.
- Two+ years managing an annual giving strategy.
- Previous experience working in non-profit and deadline driven environments.
- Direct donor experience with skills in cultivation, solicitation and stewardship.
- Exemplary service-oriented attitude and posture towards donors.
- Proven verbal, phone, and written communication skills; ability to write clear, structured, articulate, and persuasive correspondence without editing support.
- Strong organizational and project management skills; ability to organize priorities, problem solve, multitask, and meet competing deadlines.
- Keen attention to detail; must be able to maintain accurate, neat, and easily accessible records.
- Must be able to effectively work with diverse groups, including staff, board members, donors, partnering nonprofit organizations, volunteers, and external stakeholders, to achieve program outcomes.
- Knowledge on how to build and maintain meaningful relationships.
- Strong contributor in team environments is friendly and courteous. Models a service attitude towards others, takes ownership in solving problems and takes the initiative to improve situations.
- Preferred skill working in Salesforce, Wordpress, Mailchimp, and social media platforms.
- Must have thorough knowledge of and experience in Microsoft Office Suite: Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Outlook Express.
