About this organization

SELAH Neighborhood Homeless Coalition is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization on a mission to ensure that our unhoused neighbors have access to as much community support and political recognition as possible. We hope to accomplish this through material aid, connection to existing services, and policy advocacy. We seek to expand that understanding to other members of our community while building relationships with our unhoused neighbors to better understand their unique needs, situations and struggles. Our service areas include Silver Lake, Echo Park, Los Feliz, Atwater Village, and Hollywood.

About this job

SELAH Neighborhood Homeless Coalition is looking to hire a full-time Director of Communications to help build our capacity. The Director of Communications will report to the Transitional Executive Director. We envision the candidate will fill the position for a planned two-year term that may be extended.

The Director of Communications will be broadly responsible for tactical and strategic communications efforts to various SELAH stakeholders, key target audiences, and the general public. In this role–which is a new full-time position for SELAH–you will have a view into the management, operations, and decision-making process of a dynamic nonprofit organization.

You will work with the Transitional Executive Director, the SELAH Board, and our Organizers and volunteers to understand the depth and breadth of SELAH’s impact and communicate our mission and accomplishments to various stakeholders and audiences. You will help make a positive impact on the lives of our unhoused neighbors–which is arguably our city’s number one problem.

Note: this is a full time, hybrid in-person/remote position that will require availability on some evenings and weekends to coordinate with our committees and neighborhood-based programs. Compensation will be between $55-65K depending on qualifications and experience. Applicants will be expected to provide their own laptop, mobile phone, and reliable home internet connectivity for remote work. SELAH staff works in-person mostly at Second Home, a co-working space at 1370 N St Andrews Place in Hollywood.
