Since opening our doors in 1980, the Los Angeles Ronald McDonald House has provided families a “home away from home” while their child receives treatment for a critical illness or injury at one of our partner hospitals. Our House provides free temporary housing to accommodate 75 families each night, providing the amenities of any typical home, including a room, communal kitchen, laundry rooms, and much more. The LA House is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year for families.

The Sr. Development Manager is responsible for the tactical execution and success of special events for the Los Angeles Ronald McDonald House (LARMH), along with leading a corporate donor engagement and strategic partnerships plan.

Roles & responsibilities

Manage a portfolio of assigned corporate donors employing strategic moves management to secure annual commitments.

Develop cultivation & stewardship plans that create a high-quality donor experience -regular correspondence, thoughtful donor engagement & invitations, professional proposals, mailings, and acknowledgments.

Use cultivation tools, including donor site visits, meetings and materials, to introduce, engage and inspire new individuals LARMH’s mission and work.

Strategically plan, execute and evaluate special events, including but not limited to Annual Gala, Walk for Kids, and 3rd Party Events.

Solicit and secure sponsorships for all special events, ensuring revenue goals are achieved.

Oversee all logistical aspects of events, including negotiation of service contracts, to ensure that high production value and target revenue projection are met as well as expense goals.

Recruit event committee members, oversee all event committees and run meetings.

Ensure all corporate/events donor data and ensure records are maintained in Raiser’s Edge.

Working with Director of Development & Communications, and Development Associate, produce collateral pieces as needed for special events including invites, save the dates, program journals, program tribute ads and banners/signage.

Solicit and oversee 3rd party special events; steward and cultivate third party organizations to grow 3rd party revenue and increase program awareness.

Oversee Volunteer & Community Engagement Manager to ensure key community stakeholders, including community groups, local leaders, businesses, and corporate partners are identified and strong relationships are cultivated/stewarded.

Work with Volunteer & Community Engagement Manager to identify opportunities for corporate and community group partnerships such as corporate giving programs, sponsorship opportunities, cause-marketing opportunities and volunteer activities.

Collaborate with RMHCSC staff on Special Events that benefit the Chapter.

Participate in chapter-wide leadership and professional sector activities to maintain a high level understanding of fundraising climate and best practices.

Attend community-sponsored events and speaking engagements benefiting the LARMH.

Demonstrate ability to work with other staff, volunteers, and houseguests in a collaborative and compassionate manner.

Act as a brand steward, upholding RMHC Global brand standards and consistency in all projects.

Qualifications

A bachelor's degree with three (3) years of special events or fund development experience at a nonprofit organization, to include event sponsor prospect identification, cultivation, stewardship and donor appreciation, OR any appropriate combination of education and experience.

General knowledge and demonstrated experience with office management; knowledge of fundraising platforms and database systems; ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with other management staff, employees, and the general public; ability to present facts and recommendations effectively in oral and written form. Keen financial acumen and attention to detail.

Strong communication, presentation, and organizational skills are a must. Established experience with development, sales or sponsorship. Must be able to multi-task in a fast paced environment, and be willing to work evenings/weekends as necessary. Should be active in one community based organization as well as one professional association.
