Initiating Change in Our Neighborhoods Community Development Corporation (ICON CDC) is a 501(c) (3) community-based, not-for-profit, organization located in Los Angeles’ San Fernando Valley. For more than twenty years ICON CDC has been creating jobs for low-income individuals through economic revitalization and neighborhood development.

ICON CDC has been serving small business owners and entrepreneurs since 2002. The organization currently operates the City of Los Angeles BusinessSource Center (LABSC) for the North and South San Fernando Valley, which provides free services to primarily low- and moderate-income entrepreneurs and small-business owners to promote economic development, job creation, and financial literacy with a focus on job creation and job retention via access to capital.

POSITION SUMMARY

ICON CDC seeks an organized and dynamic Entrepreneur Training and Outreach Coordinator to join our team. In this role, you will be primarily responsible for community outreach, interviewing potential clients, and providing intake assistance to entrepreneurs and startup business owners interested in enrolling in our programs. The ideal candidate is a bilingual multitasker with strong communication skills, is reliable, proactive, and can work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Must be able to work in the field and in Pacoima and Van Nuys offices.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week

Roles & responsibilities

  • Conduct in-depth intakes of entrepreneurs who are interested in our Entrepreneur Training Programs, Specialized Entrepreneurship Academy, and related small business programs.
  • Refer entrepreneurs to technical assistance or other county programs as needed.
  • Organize and input client data in CRM.
  • Assist entrepreneurs in completing the onboarding process, including completing various program forms.
  • Implement client intake management and respond to inquiries about the program.
  • Assist the Entrepreneur Training Program Director in the day-to-day logistics of weekly training presentations and follow-up.
  • Provide support to training program presenters before, during, and after presentations.
  • Set-up and break-down the entrepreneur training program presentation equipment as needed for workshops.
  • Assist with the delivery of workshops and training sessions for program participants, including coordinating logistics and materials.
  • Collaborate with ICON teams to ensure efficient and effective program implementation, including participating in team meetings as needed and providing input on program improvements.
  • Provide resource table and outreach support as needed throughout LA County.
  • Provide administrative support for the program and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 1-2 years of experience in an administrative support role,preferably in a non-profit or government setting.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Suite is required
  • Experience with data management software and hardware preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team and take initiative on individual tasks.
  • Bilingual fluency in speaking, reading and writing.

KNOWLEDGE and/or SKILLS

  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services, including customer needs assessment, while meeting a high-quality standard for services.
  • Knowledge of administrative and office procedures, including managing digital files/records.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Bilingual
  • Computer proficiency in spreadsheets and word processing in a Google Suite environment
  • Develop and maintain work deadlines while performing work with a high degree of accuracy.
  • This position requires strong attention to detail and being highly organized.
  • Excellent customer service skills in both verbal and written form.
  • Exercise reliability, responsibility, and dependability, and fulfill work obligations.
  • Must have own car, auto insurance, and the ability to maneuver throughout Los Angeles County independently.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

The Entrepreneur Training and Outreach Coordinator will work primarily in an office setting with weekly evening and occasional weekend work required to support workshops or events. The Entrepreneur Training and Outreach Coordinator may spend up to 50% of their time in the field providing outreach and resource table support. Must have their own car, insurance, and the ability to maneuver throughout Los Angeles County. The assistant may need to lift and move materials weighing up to 25 pounds. Must be comfortable with shifting work schedules to accommodate program needs.
