The Buhai Center is seeking a Grants Manager to lead and support the full lifecycle of grant processes that sustain and grow our mission-driven work. This role blends project management, compliance, and writing to ensure accurate reporting and effective stewardship of private and public funding.

Start Date: May 2025

Position: Full-time, Exempt

Salary and Benefits: $65,000-80,000 commensurate with experience. Benefits include: medical, dental, and vision insurance; voluntary employee retirement plan; paid vacation and holiday leave; professional development opportunities.

Location: Office in Los Angeles/Koreatown

Roles & responsibilities

Key Features of this Job:

• Identify and research public and private grant opportunities aligned with the Buhai Center’s mission and goals.

• Develop, write, and submit grant proposals, reports, invoices, and other funder communications in coordination with the Executive Director, program staff, and accounting staff.

• Manage grant calendars, compliance deadlines, and tracking systems to ensure timely submissions and reporting accuracy.

• Collaborate with staff, accounting firm, and consultants to collect data, track expenses, and produce required documentation, invoices, and reports.

• Serve as the primary liaison with government funders and assist with site visits, audits, and funder communications.

• Provide administrative support to the Executive Director, including preparing board materials and managing logistics for board engagement.

Qualifications

Essential Job Qualifications:

• A J.D., bachelor’s, or associate degree in a relevant field such as nonprofit management or public administration is preferred. Candidates with significant, directly related experience in nonprofit grants management will be considered in place of a degree.

• Demonstrated ability to manage the full grant lifecycle, including writing proposals and managing post-award compliance and reporting; grant management experience in a public interest law firm preferred.

• Exceptional organizational and project management skills with strong attention to detail, accuracy, and deadlines.

• Clear written and verbal communication skills for collaboration with funders, leadership, and colleagues.

• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 and the ability to quickly learn and adapt to similar software tools; experience with LegalServer preferred but not required.

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively, with a commitment to confidentiality and ethical grant stewardship.
