EmpowHer Institute has an exciting opportunity for an experienced manager who is organized, has excellent interpersonal skills and is passionate about making a difference in the community. We are seeking an experienced Program Manager to join our team. As the Program Manager, you will mainly be responsible for managing EmpowHer Institute’s middle and high school program initiatives and supervising direct service program staff.

Roles & responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Programs Director, the Program Manager will:

PROGRAM DESIGN & MANAGEMENT:

• Assist with the design and implementation of EmpowHer Institute’s current and new program initiatives

• Manage program staff, interns and volunteers who provide direct service to our youth

• Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders – program participants, school administrators, and parents

• Work with Program Director to develop effective strategies to meet program goals/objectives

• Monitor program progress and make recommendations as needed

• Serve as liaison between EmpowHer Institute and school partners

• Ensure that each program has the requisite supplies

• Organize, manage, and chaperone field trips and special events for program participants

• Monitor program databases and maintain record keeping

• Other duties to be assigned as they arise

• Substitute as instructor in the absence of Academy Instructor

STAFF SUPERVISION:

• Facilitate staff orientation and professional development

• Conduct performance reviews of supervised staff

• Hire and provide supportive supervision to staff who provide direct service in our programs (Volunteer Coordinator and 3 Academy Instructors)

• Conduct staff supervisory meetings on a regular basis

YOUTH RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT:

• Manage recruitment and retention of program participants

• Develop and maintain relationship with program participants and their parents/guardians

• Manage communications with program participants and their parents /guardians.

• Support parent/guardian involvement efforts such as parent meetings, workshops and newsletters.

VOLUNTEER MANAGEMENT:

• Support Volunteer Coordinator in developing and facilitating volunteer trainings

• Supervise Volunteer Coordinator to ensure that recruitment and retention goals are met

• Work with Volunteer Coordinator to organize events for volunteers

DEVELOPMENT/PROGRAM EVALUTION

• Conduct regular youth development research and apply new ideas to EmpowHer programming

• Develop and monitor metrics for program evaluation

• Work with the Program Director to compose program reports

• Collaborate with school staff to collect student data, including grades, matriculation and graduation rates of participants

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have excellent presentation, interpersonal, program management, leadership, team-working, organizational, computer and oral and written communication skills. Experience working within a diverse and inclusive work environment. Experience working with diverse populations and marginalized communities. Must be comfortable in a fast-paced work environment. Light lifting (Up to 20-40 lbs.) and some driving required. Must be available to work Monday – Friday, 9:00 am – 5:30 pm with possible evenings and Saturdays (with advanced notice).

• College degree (preferred, but can be substituted for experience)

• Must pass LiveScan criminal background check facilitated by the LA County Department of Probation within the first 30 days of employment

• MUST show proof of full Covid-19 vaccination at time of hire

• Must submit negative TB test result within first 30 days of employment

• Must have exceptional organizational and time-management skills

• 5+ years of program management experience, preferably in the nonprofit sector, youth programs or education

• 3+ years of experience managing multiple staff members

• 2+ years of experience working with marginalized communities

• Must have dependable transportation and a valid California Driver’s License
