We are seeking an experienced Development Manager to spearhead the grant proposal process from execution through writing to report submission, with support and feedback from the Executive Director. The ideal candidate will be confident working independently, possess a keen eye for detail and organization, welcome the opportunity for creative challenge, and have a drive to empower the Dramatic Results community.
Roles & responsibilities
- Open to thinking critically about diversity, equity, access and inclusion (DEAI) and its relevance to delivering culturally relevant programming: we are not expecting candidates to be experts in DEAI topics, but are looking for someone who is willing to grow their own self-awareness of bias
- Spearhead all aspects of the grant writing process, including proposal preparation with feedback from Executive Director and submission process
- Draft and prepare competitive letters of inquiry, grant applications, grant reports, and related materials to meet funder guidelines
- Share relevant information on grant prospects, timelines, and awards with staff
- Oversee and help produce in-depth donor reports for all campaigns and track donor movement across multiple years
- Identify and research new funding opportunities to expand grant pipeline
- Research and document grant requirements and criteria, including pertinent details for matching funds, reporting, terms and conditions
- Track all grant deadlines; follow up with staff, and submit reports, thank-you letters, and other materials in a timely manner
- Participate in and schedule meetings with donors/prospects and grantmakers
- Attend, present to, and engage Board members for fundraising events as needed
- Together with the Executive Director, strategically plan all fundraising events ensuring goals are met for each event
- Assist with donor cultivation and stewardship activities
- Maintain and improve donor database (Neon One), departmental filing, and conduct clean-up projects to improve data integrity and performance
- Work with marketing to ensure accurate donor information appears on website, promotional materials, and social media
- Work with marketing to maintain promotional items and inventory to meet the requests of donors and outreach events
- In the future, may collaborate with Leadership Team to engage, recruit, steward, train and manage relationships with volunteers to successfully execute fundraising plans
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- At least 5 years prior development experience in nonprofit fundraising
- Experience with grant writing and management
- Outstanding writing skills in English, including the ability to be articulate, persuasive and compassionate in presenting a case for funding, including strong proofreading skills
- Strong organizational skills to manage various activities with multiple deadlines
- In-depth skills in accessing electronic data resources, gathering and analyzing data for planning reports, funding and grant development, and composing/integrating information to create strong funding proposals
- Excellent collaborative, diplomatic, and problem-solving skills, including the ability to incorporate critical reviews and edits
- Life-long learner: willing to receive additional training as needed
- Intermediate-advanced skills in Microsoft Office programs, such as Word, Excel, Dropbox, PowerPoint, and related database management software
- Comfortable working remotely and in person (in office & programs)
- Maintain confidentiality of donor database and sensitive information as it pertains to external partners, as well as families, schools, and students served
- Access to reliable transportation
- Able to adhere to agency and partner health mandates, including for COVID-19
