POSITION SUMMARY
The Social and Emotional Program Manager will lead C5LA’s social and emotional wellness initiatives, establishing a comprehensive and integrated SEL (social and emotional learning) framework across all C5LA programs. This role will be a critical resource for both Leaders and staff, guiding C5LA’s efforts to address and support the emotional and mental wellness needs of our youth. The Social and Emotional Program Manager will design, implement, and evaluate an SEL curriculum that aligns with the unique needs of C5LA Leaders and train staff in effective SEL techniques. This role will provide both 1:1 and group support for Leaders, and work with program staff to ensure SEL is consistently incorporated into our programming.
Roles & responsibilities
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
SEL Curriculum Development and Implementation
Develop a comprehensive SEL curriculum to be integrated into all C5LA year-round and summer programs, ensuring that social and emotional wellness is a core component of the Leaders C5LA experience.
Create and implement an SEL rubric to track development benchmarks and monitor Leader progress in areas such as but not limited to resilience, self-awareness, emotional regulation, and interpersonal skills.
Customize the curriculum to address specific needs within C5LA’s programs and age groups, incorporating evidence-based practices for youth development.
Staff Training and Support
Design and lead training sessions to equip program staff with effective SEL techniques, tools, and strategies for fostering a supportive environment for Leaders.
Serve as an ongoing resource to program staff, providing guidance, coaching, and support in SEL best practices.
Develop training materials, guides, and workshops for staff, promoting continuous learning in SEL competencies.
Individual and Group Support
Offer 1:1 and group workshops that address the specific SEL needs of Leaders, covering thematic areas such as stress management, self-confidence, goal setting, conflict resolution, and mental health awareness.
Collaborate with program staff to ensure SEL workshops and support sessions are timely, relevant, and accessible to Leaders at all stages of their development.
Respond to urgent SEL-related issues, providing tailored support and referrals when necessary.
Develop a comprehensive resource guide of social-emotional and mental health providers for staff and Leaders to access as needed, ensuring timely support and appropriate referrals.
Reporting and Evaluation
Track and measure the impact of SEL initiatives using an SEL rubric and other tools, maintaining records of Leader progress and program impact.
Regularly report outcomes, progress, and insights to the COO, development team, board members, and funders, providing a clear picture of the SE framework’s impact on Leader development.
Conduct ongoing evaluations to refine and improve SEL programming based on feedback, results, and emerging SEL trends and research.
Collaboration and Integration
Partner with program staff to ensure that SEL principles are consistently applied across all program activities, from the classroom to outdoor activities and summer experiences.
Engage with the development team to share impactful stories, testimonials, and data-driven outcomes that highlight the program’s success and resonate with funders.
Establish internship and practicum opportunities with local colleges and universities, allowing undergraduate and graduate students to gain hands-on experience while providing valuable interventions and support for C5LA staff and Leaders.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Education, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in SEL programming, counseling, or youth development, with a focus on underserved populations.
Proven ability to design and implement SEL curricula and assessment tools.
Experience training staff in SEL practices and providing 1:1 and group support to youth.
Strong understanding of social and emotional development principles, healing-centered support, and youth mentorship.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a compassionate, flexible approach to engaging youth and staff.
Ability to analyze and report on program data and outcomes
