About this job
We are looking for our next Community Legal Advocate [Mandarin speaking] to join our Asian Language Legal Intake Program (ALLIP) team in Los Angeles. Our ALLIP team provides multi-language toll free helplines that provide vital legal access to low-income limited English-speaking people. We take live calls Monday Friday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. We may provide legal information and advice by phone. In certain cases, we may provide legal assistance or representation.
Roles & responsibilities
63% Assist in answering Mandarin language helpline calls from low-income, Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) language-speaking individuals with family law matters.
27% Support our clients with legal matters, complete intake screening process, consult with attorneys and provide in-language counsel and advice over the phone for family law matters, and other legal issues.
10% Perform various duties such as support collaboration with community partner organizations through referrals and service coordination.
Qualifications
Minimum Associates degree; Bachelors degree strongly preferred
A minimum of two years of relevant work experience
Fluency in verbal and written in Mandarin and English, with strong ties to the local AAPI community
Dedication to serving immigrant communities and a sincere commitment to working on behalf of low-income immigrants
Valid driver's license and/or access to alternative means of transportation
