Join Alliance for Community Empowerment as a Janitor, where you'll take responsibility for meeting janitorial needs and services across all ACE-operated buildings. Your work will ensure a clean and well-maintained environment, making a significant impact on the daily operations and overall atmosphere of our organization.
Roles & responsibilities
- Performs janitorial duties across multiple locations in the Canoga Park and Woodland Hills areas.
- Performs general cleaning tasks (dusting, wiping, sanitizing, vacuuming, and mopping), including hard-to-reach and less-visible areas.
- Collects and disposes of all trash and recycling.
- Replaces all consumables in bathrooms and kitchen areas.
- Deep cleans kitchen equipment, including microwaves, refrigerators, freezers, air fryers, stovetops, ovens, and others, on a weekly basis, disposing of any unwanted or expired items.
- Ensures sinks are cleared and dishes are washed daily.
- Deep cleans entryways, passageways, and work areas, including windows, doors, carpets, hard floors, and furniture, on a weekly basis, using appropriate cleaning equipment.
- Maintains cleanliness and organization of outdoor spaces, including watering of plants, leaf-blowing of lots, and ensuring the spaces are free of trash, items, and debris.
- Maintains cleanliness and organization of supply room and janitorial closet; monitors janitorial inventory levels and alerts supervisor when supplies are low.
- Conducts set-up and break down for A-Team Meetings, Professional Development, and other ACE Events.
- Helps move supplies, furniture, and equipment into or out of shared spaces.
- Responds to immediate Janitorial needs as they arise, including spills, cleanups, and other incidents.
- Supports minor maintenance tasks as needed, including bulb replacements, the reporting of facility damage via ticket, and more as needed.
- Washes and cleans rags, tablecloths, and other equipment (canopies, flags, etc) and furniture.
- Ensures doors are locked after hours.
- Completes tasks in a timely manner with minimal supervision.
- This is a part-time role, typically scheduled between 3:00 PM and 7:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
- Other duties as assigned.

- General proficiency in navigating and using technology.
- Possesses the interpersonal skills needed to promote a safe, positive, and inclusive professional work environment conducive to effective service delivery; communicates effectively both orally and in writing.
- Demonstrates cultural competence/cultural humility in community relations and service delivery.
- Physically capable of handling the duties of the role, including significant periods on foot for sweeping, mopping, litter control, etc, bending and lifting, emptying trash cans, detail cleaning of carpets, walls, windows, furniture, etc.
- Familiar with safe use practices for common cleaning equipment and supplies.
- Ability to lift at least 50 pounds.
- Possess a current California Driver’s License, clean DMV record & adequate auto insurance.
- Must submit to a Department of Justice Criminal background check.
