I look outside of Project43 thinking of the issues facing my community, known as the "Gang Capital Of America".We target over 20 critical areas, yet we lack access to opportunity.The lack of faith my communities has stems from continuous lost in funding towards community programs."1 in 9 US teens are disconnected;Not attending school or unemployed".We barely have the resources to assist the youth with direct services and resources.However we strive to go beyond the barriers we face.Access to information is the overall missing element in order for us to thrive as an organization.I sat and talked with the beautiful woman sleeping on the sidewalk outside of project 43 ,who refuses services. She shared that her name was Barbie, I was taken back, for we share the same name.She told me of her dream of doing radio.As a radio host, living my dream as a direct result of great programing;I Can't help but wonder where would she be if Project 43 Y.E.D.A existed in her community as an adolescent.

Project43's LA Youth Education & Development Academy is A Pathways To Creative Innovative Careers. Project43's Community Garden is a youth-lead garden promoting healthy living primarily focused on providing a community green space, environmental sustainability, and Agriculture Educational workshops.Future Frame: A youth lead Performing Arts & Media Productions leadership program. Giving youth Access to a variety of industry pathways such as music, media, radio, film, acting, etc. Community Socials provides an opportunity for a community lead forum facilitated by Project43's staff, community members, and our Y.E.D.A members.Ink ‘N Print Shop is an entrepreneurship program that provides the youth with educational curriculum, hands on training, and opportunities in the printing industries. "Students involved in a career focused youth program are 40% more likely to be employed full-time by age 25". This is direct evidence that a Youth Education & Development academy can deter someone from ultimately ending up homeless. This program not only encourages youth to lead community organizing , it also promotes family interaction. Project 43 Team Post Centers is committed to empowering underserved children, families and individuals by delivering programs and services designed to enrich, educate and advocate for equitable opportunities in Los Angeles County.

In order to support these programs properly funding is needed.LA 2050 is giving project 43 an opportunity to change the projection of youths' lives for generations to come. The reason being is hope will be restored. The world has suffered so many losses from employment, medical resources, mental health services ,recreational options, community parks, housing, etc.That community safety has been directly affected. Citizens of today need to restore hope and structure back into our community. By obtaining access to opportunity and information we can enrich the perspective of today' youth. For our community has not been supported in the way this grant has been outlined. Youth will obtain hands-on training and curriculum that will send them into the workforce with more training and knowledge to ensure success.
