2025 Grants Challenge

Making sustainability accessible (and cute)

With this funding, we aim to expand access to sustainable products in underserved and marginalized communities by offering eco-friendly products that are culturally relevant, safe and affordable options for everyday essentials.

What is the primary issue area that your application will impact?

Community safety

In which areas of Los Angeles will you be directly working?

San Fernando Valley

In what stage of innovation is this project, program, or initiative?

Expand existing project, program, or initiative (expanding and continuing ongoing, successful work)

What is your understanding of the issue that you are seeking to address?

Community safety involves creating environments where people feel secure, valued, and included. Refill Bodega supports this by uplifting environmental justice, prioritizing representation, and cultivating inclusive spaces where marginalized communities feel seen, supported, and safe.

Describe the project, program, or initiative this grant will support to address the issue.

We would like to have the resources to:
Expand our product offerings to include more culturally relevant products
Expand our marketing reach to get the word about our business out to consumers and business-owners

Describe how Los Angeles County will be different if your work is successful.

My two co-founders and I grew up in the San Fernando Valley. As a Black woman and two Latinas, we often struggled to find spaces where we truly felt safe and represented. Through our work, we aim to build a brand that reflects and uplifts people like us from our community.

Approximately how many people will be impacted by this project, program, or initiative?

Direct Impact: 3

Indirect Impact: 500,000
