Empowering BIPOC Creatives in Tech & Storytelling
Bantu Ants Travel Club seeks $75,000 to launch an animated series and travel platform that creates jobs for underrepresented Angelenos in animation, fashion, and Web3. The project will train 10 local BIPOC creatives, produce a pilot episode, and onboard 500 members to a blockchain-powered travel community. Through curated cultural exchanges between Angelenos and African cities like Accra, we aim to foster creative collaboration, cultural equity, and economic opportunity across the diaspora.

What is the primary issue area that your application will impact?
Access to tech and creative industry employment
In which areas of Los Angeles will you be directly working?
Central LA County of Los Angeles (select only if your project has a countywide benefit) South LA
In what stage of innovation is this project, program, or initiative?
Pilot or new project, program, or initiative (testing or implementing a new idea)
What is your understanding of the issue that you are seeking to address?
Black-led creative ecosystems are critically underfunded, despite the $129B Black travel market and streaming platforms investing billions in African content. LA’s BIPOC talent faces barriers to entry in animation, tech, and fashion—industries our project disrupts by centering Afrocentric narratives and Web3 innovation.
Describe the project, program, or initiative this grant will support to address the issue.
Funds will support:
Animation Pilot Production: Hire 10 local animators and writers from underrepresented groups to create a sci-fi series that reclaims African history and mythology.
Fashion Line Collaborations: Partner with Black-owned LA fashion brands to co-create a capsule collection and fund internships for emerging designers.
Documented Cultural Travel Tours: Launch immersive travel experiences linking Los Angeles and African cities like Accra, capturing these journeys through content that showcases cultural exchange, entrepreneurship, and heritage.
All funding will directly support animation, fashion, and real-world travel experiences that connect Africa and the diaspora—building community, opportunity, and cultural pride on both sides of the Atlantic.
Describe how Los Angeles County will be different if your work is successful.
If our work is successful, Los Angeles County will become a hub for cross-cultural creativity and Afrocentric innovation. BIPOC creatives will have new pathways into animation, fashion, and Web3, with stronger economic opportunities rooted in cultural expression. Local communities will benefit from global exchange—linking LA to African cities like Accra—through travel, storytelling, and entrepreneurship. The result will be a more inclusive creative economy, deeper cultural pride, and a global network of collaboration connecting LA to the diaspora.
Approximately how many people will be impacted by this project, program, or initiative?
