What is your understanding of the issue that you are seeking to address?
Unaffordable housing & homelessness stems from several issues including housing shortage, rising rental and home purchase costs, some communities do not want affordable housing in their neighborhood and the challenges that developers face due to zoning or government policies & regulations.
Also, housing generally should be a portion of an individuals monthly income (w/state and federal variations). With high rents most households are likely paying a majority of their net income in housing. To afford a $2,800/month rental unit, the tenant's gross income need to be 3x the rent or at least $8,400/month.
Providing funding to organizations that gives funds to other organizations that provide referrals is not a solution to the homeless crisis in California and specifically LA County.
Get a plan to assist "working poor" living in their cars, in "SAFE PARKING" spaces, a place to live based on their income (ability to pay) and removing all other barriers to getting these individuals housed.
Describe the project, program, or initiative this grant will support to address the issue.
We are a nonprofit organization as well as a nonprofit real estate brokerage. Operating with a nonprofit real estate brokerage to assist in providing affordable housing is a strategic and impactful approach. Nonprofit brokerages are experts in navigating the complexities of affordable housing programs, connecting with funding, and understanding the needs of low-income communities. This collaboration can streamline the process of identifying properties, securing financing, and ultimately, providing homes to those in need.

Describe how Los Angeles County will be different if your work is successful.
Implementing our Affordable Housing Initiative in LA County could:
1) lead to increased economic activity - lower housing costs means more disposable income to spend on local businesses,
2) improve stability - providing affordable options would allow for more stable housing options for low-income residents, helping them avoid the cycle of eviction and homelessness,
3) better health outcomes for Angelenos as they are less likely to experience environmental threats, and can afford healthier food and routine medical care,
This affordable housing initiatives can also attract new businesses/workers and enhancing the overall regional economy. An affordable housing program may also significantly alter a county by improving housing stability for low-income residents, potentially stimulating the local economy, and potentially reducing homelessness.
With this initiative, the County could see a housing model that makes housing affordable by meeting clients where they are and moving them forward
