Community Floral Wellness for LA
Community Floral Wellness brings free, creativity- and nature-based wellness experiences to underserved communities in LA through immersive floral design workshops and engaging public floral art installations. Each session blends meditation, movement, floral design, and reflection; helping participants reduce stress, connect with others, and walk away with flowers to enjoy and simple, accessible tools to support their emotional health and healing.

What is your understanding of the issue that you are seeking to address?
Many LA residents, especially those in underserved communities, lack consistent access to mental wellness tools that are culturally resonant, creative, and community-based. Traditional care models often overlook the healing power of artistic expression, intergenerational connection, and nature. As a result, stress, anxiety, and disconnection are left unaddressed in neighborhoods that already carry the weight of systemic inequities. This is especially true for seniors, youth, and communities of color who often don’t see themselves reflected in wellness spaces. We believe the path to healing must include joy, beauty, and belonging; all of which is accessible right where people live.
Describe the project, program, or initiative this grant will support to address the issue.
Our Community Floral Wellness initiative is a multi-modal wellness program designed to introduce accessible, culturally resonant self-care practices to communities that have historically lacked access to them. This program recognizes that many Angelenos (especially youth, older adults, communities of color, and other vulnerable populations) are seeking tools to process everyday and generational stress. We offer a pathway to healing that feels joyful, beautiful, and within reach.
With LA2050’s support, we will host 10–12 community floral wellness workshops across Los Angeles County, each serving up to 40 participants. Every session is a thoughtfully curated experience that includes:
Gentle movement (e.g., yoga, stretching, walking)
Meditation (e.g., breathwork, sound bath, or guided mindfulness)
Intention-setting to help participants ground in the present moment
Floral design instruction led by trained facilitators
Reflective processing through journaling or quiet time
A take-home floral arrangement as a reminder of their healing
Additionally, we will co-create 4 public floral installations with community members to serve as symbols of unity, resilience, creativity, and pride.
All experiences are rooted in emotional and environmental awareness, including composting education, the use of domestically grown flowers, and sustainable care practices. Together, these offerings aim to nurture wellness, deepen community connection, and create space for healing where it’s needed most.
Describe how Los Angeles County will be different if your work is successful.
When successful, our program will leave a lasting emotional and cultural imprint across Los Angeles. More than 400 residents will not only engage in hands-on creative wellness, but walk away with a deeper understanding that self-care is health care; and that healing can be beautiful, communal, and accessible.
Participants will feel less stressed and emotionally lighter, more connected to themselves and others, and equipped with simple tools like breathwork, movement, and creative expression to navigate everyday and generational stressors.
Public floral installations will uplift shared spaces, while quietly reinforcing that beauty and wellness belongs in our neighborhoods. Long-term, the program will inspire a shift in how under-resourced communities view and access mental and emotional wellness making it feel possible, personal, and ongoing. With continued support, this model can scale across LA County, transforming wellness from luxury to lifeline.
