6. What is your understanding of the issue that you are seeking to address?
Families in Los Angeles, especially Black, Brown, and low-income communities, are disproportionately impacted by the child welfare system, domestic violence, and court injustice. Survivors of abuse and system involvement are often retraumatized, misdiagnosed, and left unsupported in courtrooms and communities. Many lack access to trauma-informed services, culturally relevant healing, and the basic necessities needed to recover and stabilize. These gaps lead to family separation, incarceration, generational trauma, and preventable child removals. Our organization understands these issues firsthand and works to provide healing, advocacy, and tangible resources that keep families together and empowered.
