What is your understanding of the issue that you are seeking to address?
Low-income Hispanic families in Los Angeles face persistent barriers to accessing health care, mental health services, and basic resources, barriers driven by poverty, language, immigration status, and fear. Many work multiple jobs, lack insurance, and avoid institutions due to systemic distrust or fear of deportation. In today’s polarized political climate, this fear is growing. Families are not just underserved, they are actively excluded from systems meant to support them. The result is a growing public health crisis, with preventable conditions left untreated, stress and anxiety on the rise, and an urgent need for safe, community-rooted solutions that meet people where they are.
Describe the project, program, or initiative this grant will support to address the issue.
This initiative will produce five large-scale events throughout Los Angeles that convene trusted health, wellness, and community-based partners in a single, accessible setting. Designed to streamline access to care and resources, these events eliminate the need for families to navigate multiple agencies or systems. In just one day, attendees will be able to receive screenings, ask questions, and leave with personalized guidance and actionable next steps.
While open to all, the events are intentionally designed with and for Hispanic families, our core area of expertise. Through bilingual outreach, culturally responsive programming, and a deep understanding of systemic barriers, we create free, safe, affirming spaces where families feel respected, informed, and empowered to take control of their health and well-being.
Describe how Los Angeles County will be different if your work is successful.
If this initiative succeeds, and it will! Los Angeles County will have 25,000 families healthier, more informed, and more connected to the services they need. Thousands will get screened, fed, supported, and guided.
Be Social Productions has spent over a decade building exactly this: events that feel like celebrations but deliver real impact. We don’t just bring services to the community, we make the community feel seen. We’ve done it before, and now, with your support, we’ll do it bigger.
