What is your understanding of the issue that you are seeking to address?
Artificial intelligence is evolving at an unprecedented rate, and the most vulnerable demographic at risk of its unchecked influence is our youth. Children are now forming relationships with hyper-responsive AI “companions,” consuming infinite content, and being exposed to realistic synthetic media... All without the cognitive tools to navigate it safely. This wave of digital dependency threatens to erode social-emotional development, critical thinking, and real-world connection. Affiliated Worldwide sees this as a crisis that must be met with urgency, care, and creativity. We engage youth where they are—with sports, storytelling, and hands-on workshops... to teach AI literacy and balance it with the timeless power of physical play, human interaction, and strategic thinking. We’re not just preparing them to use technology, we’re preparing them to lead in a future we cannot yet see.
Describe the project, program, or initiative this grant will support to address the issue.
The AI Strategy Circuit is an innovative, high-impact youth development program designed as a proactive response to the rapid advancement and potential pitfalls of artificial intelligence among youth. Delivered as an engaging, four-week curriculum, this initiative uniquely blends structured sports activities, interactive life strategy sessions, and immersive AI literacy workshops. Each week strategically builds upon the last, beginning with foundational AI education, covering safe usage, critical thinking around digital content, and ethical considerations. Participants engage in hands-on projects, creatively learning to use AI tools constructively and safely.
Simultaneously, structured sports sessions provide essential balance, reinforcing critical non-technical skills like teamwork, resilience, leadership, and real-world human interaction. Life strategy workshops complement these components, equipping youth with goal-setting frameworks, decision-making tools, and pathways toward future readiness.
The AI Strategy Circuit culminates with participants developing their own "Future Impact Project," showcasing innovative, responsible AI use combined with strategic planning and physical teamwork. This holistic approach ensures lasting impact, equipping Los Angeles youth to thrive as both future creators and conscientious consumers of technology.
Describe how Los Angeles County will be different if your work is successful.
If successful, the AI Strategy Circuit will transform Los Angeles County into a model for future-ready youth development. In the short term (Oct 2025–Oct 2026), we will engage 200+ youth in high-need communities through a four-week mobile curriculum blending AI literacy, strategic life skills, and structured sports. Sessions will be hosted at schools, parks, and community sites, with potential partnerships including Delete the Divide, Linc Housing, the Crenshaw YMCA, and Long Beach Parks & Recreation. Long term, we’ll scale using a train-the-trainer model, equipping trusted community leaders to deliver the program themselves—allowing expansion across LA County with minimal overhead. Youth will build healthier relationships with technology, stronger real-world skills, and a sense of agency in a rapidly evolving world.
