What is your understanding of the issue that you are seeking to address?
We see a big disconnect between the resources that are out there and the people who need them. A lot of people in our communities don’t know where to start when it comes to finding help with jobs, housing, education, or support services or they’ve been discouraged by systems that are confusing or don’t feel welcoming. At Active Community Environment, we step in to bridge that gap. We help people connect the dots by linking them with the right programs, offering skill-building opportunities, and walking with them through the process. It’s all about making sure our community members don’t just survive, but they thrive, with the tools and support they need right at their fingertips. Often times these communities and the people in them are overlooked, casted to the side and forgotten.
Describe the project, program, or initiative this grant will support to address the issue.
This grant will support Active Community Environment’s new affordable housing initiative, which is grounded in our mission to serve as a liaison between government agencies and underserved communities. Our goal is to bridge the gap between people in need and the resources that can help them thrive.
This project goes beyond housing it’s a comprehensive support model that connects residents with workforce training, job placement assistance, education programs, and wraparound services. By integrating skill-building opportunities, public benefit navigation, and personal development resources, we help individuals and families move from crisis to stability.
Through this initiative, we will not only provide affordable, safe housing we will also create a community hub where residents are supported, empowered, and equipped with the tools to build a better future. We’ll work hand-in-hand with local agencies, service providers, and partners to ensure every resident has direct access to the programs and opportunities they need to succeed
Describe how Los Angeles County will be different if your work is successful.
If our work is successful, LA County will feel more connected, supported, and hopeful especially in communities that have been left feeling hopeless. People won’t just be surviving day to day; they’ll have access to stable housing, real job opportunities, and the support they need to grow. Instead of getting lost in systems that feel confusing or discouraging, residents will have someone guiding them, rooting for them, and helping them move forward.
Through initiatives like our Annual Neodeverse Fashion Show & Drama Production which celebrates inclusion and provides a creative platform for exploring the unique talents of our autistic community it wil l make a big difference for our participants to have access to resources they need right where they live. Families will have a fair shot at stability, young people will have a better space to explore their gifts/talents, and trust between the community and service systems will finally start to grow.
