Adolescence is a unique and formative time. Physical, emotional and social changes, including exposure to poverty, abuse, or violence, can make adolescents vulnerable to mental health problems. Protecting adolescents from adversity, promoting socio-emotional learning and psychological well-being, and ensuring access to mental health care are critical for their health and well-being during adolescence and adulthood.
1 in 6 U.S. youth aged 6-17 experience a mental health disorder each year
50% of all lifetime mental illness begins by age 14, and 75% by age 24
Suicide is the 2nd Leading cause of death among people aged 10-34 16.5% of U.S. youth aged 6-17 experienced a mental health disorder in 2016 (7.7 million people)
High school students with significant symptoms of depression are more than twice as likely to drop out compared to their peers

Initiative:
Neu-Self Awakening offers a range of services to support individuals in their journey towards self-awareness and personal growth. Our psychotherapy counseling services provide a safe and supportive environment for individuals to address and work through their mental health challenges. Our individual life coaching session helps clients set and achieve goals, navigate life transitions, and cultivate a more fulfilling and purposeful life. Our wrap-around case management services ensure that client’s have access to the resources and support they need to address all aspects of their well-being.
Niche:
Neu-Self Awakening's niche is in providing comprehensive mental health and life coaching services. Our team of experienced and license therapists and coaches are dedicated to empowering individuals to overcome challenges, make positive changes in their lives, and achieve their personal and professional goals.
Goals:
Our main goal is to become the leading mental health and life coaching organization, known for delivering outstanding services and making a positive impact on the lives of our clients. We aim to expand our reach and provide support to a larger number of individuals in need, while continuously improving our services to better meet the needs of our clients.

The success of our program, as a result of the LA 2025 grant, will change how LA County supports underserved communities' needs with comprehensive mental health care. Our complete wrap-around mental health care program will change the lives of 150/100 residents, which will result in stronger and more thriving communities.

This is an early-stage initiative. NeuSelf has been around for approximately three years. The first two years were spent building the foundation, developing our infrastructure, recruiting contracted personnel, and raising initial capital. The last year we have been providing services to our clients and communities.
We will define and measure success of our program by using the the following metrics:
1. Our clients complete an initial Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9) or Adolescent Childhood Experiences (ACEs) form.
2. Our clients complete a six month and one year check-in by completing another PHQ-9 or ACEs form.
3. We track the number of completed session with their life coach, therapists, and care coordinator.
4. We track the number of activities completed with their life coach.
5. We are provided with six month and yearly status report from their therapist.
