The Goldhirsh Foundation and its LA2050 initiative announced today that Maya Chen joined the staff of the organization, as the social media and communications coordinator.

Chen graduated from Occidental College with a B.A. in English, and comes to the Goldhirsh Foundation with a background in policy, advocacy, and the public arts. Originating in the national Asian Pacific American nonprofit sphere, she then transitioned to working in Los Angeles arts nonprofits. Prior to her work at the Goldhirsh Foundation, Chen served as the social media director at Los Angeles Review of Books, a 2015 LA2050 Grants Challenge recipient.

"I couldn't be more thrilled to join the Goldhirsh Foundation and LA2050," Chen said. "As someone who has worked in the nonprofit sector my entire career, including for a past grantee, I have seen firsthand how essential these grants are to the very core of these organizations, and I'm so excited to help uplift their work."

Chen has already worked with her colleagues on a wide range of platforms and projects, including the organization’s signature annual LA2050 Grants Challenge.
