New Assistant to the President Khalil Humphries Joins Goldhirsh Foundation and its LA2050 Initiative

The Goldhirsh Foundation and its LA2050 initiative announced today that Khalil Humphries has joined the staff of the organization as the assistant to the president.

“Whether we invest in an idea, an entrepreneur, or an organization, we pride ourselves in identifying the brightest emerging talent and providing them the tools to best support their success,” Tara Roth, president of the Goldhirsh Foundation, said. “That same holds true for the people who join our innovative and passionate team.”

Khalil graduated with a B.A. in Communications Studies from California State University, Northridge. He has experience working with local elections, production companies, and as an educator. He aims to ensure all Angelenos have equal and equitable access to safe and clean community green spaces.

“I am beyond happy to be joining the LA2050 team!” Humphries said. “Growing up in LA has been a blessing. LA2050 is a leader in connecting people from all walks of life, and I can't wait to help other Angelenos take full advantage of what this city and county has to offer.”

Humphries, along with his colleagues, work on a wide range of platforms and projects including the signature annual LA2050 Grants Challenge, now in its tenth year. The LA2050 Grants Challenge is an open call for ideas to make LA the best place to learn, create, play, connect, and live. Last year, $2.5 million was awarded to 42 organizations to implement their winning ideas – $1 million from the Goldhirsh Foundation, and the rest from six leading foundation partners.

Through the LA2050 Grants Challenge, members of the public vote online for the issues that will receive grant funding. Since the initiative’s inception, more than 3,100 proposals have been submitted from approximately 2,100 LA-based social impact organizations. All of those organizations are available for anyone to search, view, and donate to at the LA2050 Ideas Hub.
