The Goldhirsh Foundation announced today that a new colleague has joined the staff of the organization and, in particular, its prominent LA2050 initiative. Johnathan Huang is the new LA2050 Design Fellow.

“We are delighted to welcome Johnathan to the team," Tara Roth, president of the Goldhirsh Foundation, says. “Social capital like design is important to us. We support emerging talent across our portfolio, from our impact investments and grantees to the talented people we hire."

Huang holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration with an emphasis in Design, from ArtCenter College of Design in Pasadena. He says he is passionate about social impact, and how progress can be impacted through art and design. He also says he enjoys working alongside passionate people to visually bring ideas and action to life.

"I'm super thrilled to join the Goldhirsh Foundation for such an amazing cause. The LA2050 initiative is inspiring, impactful, and so community-oriented, which are all things that are important to me," Huang says. “I can't wait to jump into the flow of it all and help this team truly make a difference in Los Angeles."

As LA2050 Design Fellow, Huang will focus at first on the graphic design and implementation of the print and digital campaign for the 2022 LA2050 Grants Challenge; helping create a cohesive visual brand across LA2050's website, social media channels, and newsletter. He will also contribute his talents to other public information and communication projects.

The LA2050 Grants Challenge is an annual open call for ideas to make LA the best place to learn, create, play, connect, and live. Through the Grants Challenge, more than $1,000,000 in funding and prizes are awarded each year to local social impact organizations. The 2022 Grants Challenge will launch in April with a broad public voting campaign to ask Angelenos to share what issues they most care about. In return, LA2050 will provide grants to the top-voted issues. Visit the LA2050 Ideas Archive to view, search, and support more than 1,800 past proposals from local non-profits, for-profits, and government agencies.
