Jake Bishop and Carla Fuentes Promoted to New Positions at LA2050

The Goldhirsh Foundation and its LA2050 initiative have promoted two team members to new positions within the organization.

Jake Bishop is now Program Coordinator at the Goldhirsh Foundation / LA2050, and Carla Fuentes is now Social Innovation Assistant.

Previously, Bishop served as the Assistant to Goldhirsh Foundation President Tara Roth, and Fuentes was Social Impact and Outreach Fellow, Goldhirsh Foundation / LA2050.

LA2050 is a community-guided initiative driving and tracking progress toward a shared vision for the future of Los Angeles. We achieve this through research and reporting, digital and physical engagement, as well as local grantmaking.

In their respective new roles, the pair will continue in part to work on projects such as the annual LA2050 Grants Challenge, which this year granted more than $2.6 million to 37 nonprofit and social impact organizations in the Los Angeles region, thanks to the collaboration of five philanthropic funding partners, and to the more than 8,000 members of the community who voted online for the issues that mattered most to them.

Bishop joined the team in March, 2020. He graduated with bachelor’s degrees in Sociology and Political Science from Chapman University, and says he is passionate about creating a more just society where everyone has equal opportunities no matter how they identify.

Fuentes joined the team in December, 2021, and was promoted before her year-long Fellowship was scheduled to conclude. She graduated last May from CSU Northridge with a degree in Political Science with an emphasis of Public Policy and Management. She has experience working with nonprofits and local government, and on elections and political campaigns. Most recently, she focused on outreach to close the digital divide, and efforts to hold social media platforms accountable for the spread of misinformation.

LA2050 is currently interviewing for a Social Media and Communications Fellow, and has just posted a help wanted for our 2023 Design Fellow. Apply today, or if you have questions, DM @LA2050 or email team@la2050.org.
