24 Iconic Places to Vote in ‘24

Posted

Tuesday, March 5, 2024 is the last day to cast your vote in the current election cycle.

For those of you who didn't already mail in your ballot from home, haven’t

We’ve gone through the list of all 646 voting locations in LA County, and came up with a list of two dozen of the most intriguing places around the region where voters can go and get their democracy on. Read on….

1. LA Family Housing | 7843 Lankershim Blvd, North Hollywood, CA 91605

Since 1981, the San Fernando Valley-based organization LA Family Housing has empowered over 100,000 individuals to find and sustain housing across Los Angeles!

2. Red Hen Press | 1540 Lincoln Ave, Pasadena, CA 91103

Beyond publishing, Red Hen Press serves as a vibrant public arts center for the LA community. From groundbreaking performances to master class writing workshops and more!

3. Billie Jean King Main Library | 200 W Broadway, Long Beach, CA 90802

You’re in Long Beach. It’s Women’s History Month. What better way to celebrate by exercising – pun intended – your right to vote in this recently-built mecca to community and learning named for the pioneering athlete, leader, and activist.

4. TreePeople | 12601 Mulholland Dr, Beverly Hills, CA 90210

Vote surrounded by trees and greenery in Coldwater Canyon Park. Don't forget to bring your hiking shoes!

5. Griffith Park Visitors Center | 4730 Crystal Springs Dr, Los Angeles, CA 90027

You can take a hike, ride your bike – on the newly closed road – and a merry-go-round, play some tennis, eat some quiche, see the Hollywood sign, go to the planetarium, museum, and zoo, take your kids on a tiny train. Really, the only thing left to do in Griffith Park is vote!

6. The Connie Norman Transgender Empowerment Center | 1001 N Martel Ave, West Hollywood, CA 90046

Named after the legendary 'AIDS Diva,' Connie Norman, the center offers comprehensive resources, training, support and medical services for transgender people living in LA.

7. Los Angeles LGBT Center | 1118 N McCadden Pl, Los Angeles, CA 90038

Vote at the largest LGBTQ+ organization in the world! After casting your ballot, take a moment to check out their upcoming programming or swing by their café.

8. Sotomayor Arts and Science Magnet | 2050 N San Fernando Rd, Los Angeles, CA 90065

This STEM scholastic space in Glassell Park is part of the Sonia Sotomayor Learning Academies Campus, named in honor of the first Latina to serve as a Supreme Court justice. Go Wolves! Go judicial branch!

9. Beverly Hills Public Library | 444 N Rexford Dr, Beverly Hills, CA 90210

A behemoth public space, ideal for studying, and home to both a “Friends Of” bookstore and an excellent fine arts and arts reference floor. Going abroad, let’s say to be an election observer? Get your passport here as well.

10. Hammer Museum | 10899 Wilshire Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90024

Visit this original 2013 LA2050 Grants Challenge winner! The exhibitions are great, the public programs are world-class, the courtyard and Spun Chairs enticing, and Diddy Riese Cookies is nearby to make your election day even sweeter.

11. Roxbury Park | 401 S Roxbury Dr, Beverly Hills, CA 90212

Okay, web sleuths. We challenge you. Find us another place in Los Angeles County – or anywhere, really – where you can both vote AND take a free-of-charge lawn bowling class? We’re waiting.

12. Robert F. Kennedy Community Schools | 701 S Catalina St, Los Angeles, CA 90005

In 1968, while running for President, Sen. Kennedy was assassinated on this site, when it was the Ambassador Hotel. That killing could not stifle American democracy, which makes voting here even more profound. Bonus: The exteriors of this six-school Koreatown campus have dozens of murals by well-known artists.

13. West Covina City Hall | 1444 W Garvey Ave S, West Covina, CA 91790

Step into history and architectural elegance at West Covina City Hall, designed by Pasadena architects Donald Neptune and Joseph Thomas. This landmark, a response to the city's postwar growth, defies the typical Brutalist design. This is one of six City Halls open for voting across LA County.

14. Fairplex | 1101 W McKinley Ave Gate 17, Pomona, CA 91768

When politicians run for office, they often work the crowds at state fairgrounds. There’s no politicking allowed during voting, of course, and the LA County Fair doesn’t open until May, so bring your own Kool-Aid fried chicken sandwich to Pomona when you vote.

15. Millennium Biltmore Hotel Los Angeles | 506 S Grand Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90013

This iconic DTLA anchor has been open for more than a century; you’ve been there for a drink, a gala, an architecture tour, or to warm up after ice skating at Pershing Square. Los Angeles City Hall is about a mile away.

16. Metro Headquarters | 1 Gateway Plaza, Los Angeles, CA 90012

All aboard for democracy! Head to Metro Headquarters to cast your vote in the heart of public transit. After you've made your voice heard, why not plan your next adventure?

17. Inner-City Arts | 720 Kohler St, Los Angeles, CA 90021

A beacon of hope, creativity, and youthful energy, on a gleaming campus so crucial it was part of a MoMA exhibition. Also here: William and Kate’s handprints.

18. Michelle and Barack Obama Sports Complex | 5001 Obama Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90016

You can vote at other spots named after Presidents Jefferson, Lincoln, and Roosevelt. But this is the most prominent POTUS and FLOTUS-named place to ballot–a Baldwin Hills recreation gem recently updated by leading architects.

19. Lynwood Community Transit Center | 11301 Bullis Rd, Lynwood, CA 90262

20. LA County Registrar-Recorder | 12400 Imperial Hwy., Norwalk, CA 90650

Ready to tie the knot and make your voice heard? Whether you're applying for a marriage license, filing for a domestic partnership, or casting your vote, they’ve got you covered.

21. CSU Long Beach-Walter Pyramid | 1250 N Bellflower Blvd, Long Beach, CA 90840

There’s a very short list of buildings around the globe shaped like a pyramid. So make everyone jealous and tell them you voted inside this cobalt blue, 18-story Long Beach edifice. For nostalgia: The NBA Summer Pro League used to run here. ✨

22. Grand Annex | 434 W 6th St, San Pedro, CA 90731

Swing by the Grand Annex to cast your vote next door to the historic Warner Grand theater. The “neighborhood picture palace” is currently under renovation and is set to re-open in 2026. 🎞️
