About this organization

RuckusRoots is a 501c3 non profit organization based in Los Angeles. Our mission is to create art programs that cultivate environmental awareness and action in historically underrepresented communities. Our goal is to foster inspired, empowered and engaged citizens through interactive art making. Our programs currently support youth and adults in South Los Angeles, Northeast Los Angeles and the South Bay.

RuckusRoots’ vision is artistically vibrant and environmentally resilient
neighborhoods for all residents of Los Angeles, regardless of social or economic standing. We believe that the arts play a crucial role

About this job

Board members meet four times per year, plus occasional additional committee meetings. We work collaboratively on all aspects of RuckusRoots, making sure that we are using our energy effectively and in the right place. We also think about ways to be able to reach more people and grow our impact.

As an organization focused on the intersection of arts and climate equity in Los Angeles, a new Board member will demonstrate a strong commitment to our cause and both reflect and amplify the voice of your Los Angeles community.

Roles & responsibilities

A Board member will have the interest and ability to engage individuals from diverse backgrounds and experiences to achieve the organization’s goals, and expand our network of support. This role requires creativity, vision, and a diplomatic spirit, and provides the opportunity to think outside the confines of traditional nonprofit Board models, with a goal to build upon existing opportunities and increase RuckusRoot’s
impact in the years ahead.
