About Us: Partnership Scholars Program is a non-profit organization that supports motivated students from under-resourced communities as they work to achieve their college dreams. We provide six years of mentoring, educational and cultural experiences and college guidance, starting in the 7th grade, to promote college access and a lifetime of success for students who will be first in their families to attend college. PSP students live in four different CA communities: Lennox and El Monte in southern CA and Fort Bragg and Ukiah in northern CA. Our largest student cohorts are in Lennox and El Monte. About the Job: Partnership Scholars Program (PSP) is looking for a bilingual (English/Spanish) highly organized, dynamic individual who can manage PSP’s mentoring and college access programming in partnership with the Executive Director. This role is a good fit for someone who is mid-career and looking for ways to gain more leadership experience while working to improve educational opportunities for all students.

Location, Hours & Compensation: Our office is in Lennox, CA and this role can be a can be fulfilled with a mix of remote and in-office hours. We offer flexible scheduling within the parameters of 8 am – 6 pm Monday – Friday. Occasional weekend and evening hours will be necessary to staff PSP events. Hourly rate is $22 - $30, depending on relevant experience. This is a temporary position, running from April 14 – Sept 9, 2022.

Job Roles & Responsibilities:

Manage Mentoring & College Guidance Program (35%)

  • Conduct regular outreach to students, volunteers and parents via phone, text and email
  • Organize and lead workshops and meetings with students, volunteers and partners
  • Collect and analyze data about program activities and student academic performance
  • Guide high school seniors with transition to college
  • Support volunteer mentors in planning student activities

Organize Special Events: (45%)

  • Manage logistics for summer college tour
  • Organize and execute virtual graduation event
  • Support in-person graduation celebrations
  • Plan and execute three-day College Success Retreat
  • Note: These are annual events with many plans already created. This role will be charged with creative and successful implementation.

Administrative Support (15%)

  • Handle incoming calls, texts and emails to main email inbox
  • Maintain organized systems for filing materials, documents, and supplies
  • Create social media posts to highlight program achievements
  • Check PO Box twice a week
  • Other administrative duties as needed

Bookkeeping: (5%)

  • Reviews reimbursement requests from volunteer mentors and students and prepare them for the bookkeeper on a weekly basis.

Qualifications, Skills & Knowledge: The ideal candidate will possess a passion for creating equitable and fulfilling educational opportunities for all students. The candidate will be a strong communicator, well organized, and able to manage multiple ongoing projects. Of critical importance is that the candidate be self-motivated with the ability to work independently.

  • Passion for educational equity and a desire to help students explore their interests
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Bachelor’s Degree and 3 years of related work experience
  • Strong interpersonal communication and telephone skills
  • Able to work effectively with diverse populations and individuals
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) and other office productivity tools (email, database management, digital media, etc.)
  • Willingness to work at PSP’s offices in Lennox, CA and attend community events on weekends and evenings as needed.
  • The selected candidate must be able to clear a background check and have legal authorization to work in the United States.
  • Must have car and driver’s license.
  • Must have COVID 19 vaccine and booster.
