What we need

  • KCRW is seeking an Acquisitions & Promotions Manager who will be responsible for managing campaign assets and promotional activities of KCRW, including ticket giveaways and other email acquisition efforts. The Acquisitions & Promotions Manager will develop creative assets, liaise with third-party content platforms, edit and write promotional copy and newsletter copy as needed, and facilitate cross-departmental coordination around marketing launches, KCRW Presents, and giveaways.
  • The Acquisitions & Promotions Manager reports to the Communications Director and works with content producers, graphic designers, and key stakeholders across the organization. This role combines a love of KCRW content with a passion for furthering projects and getting deliverables to the right people on time, as well as tracking the results and iterating for the future.
  • Acquisition & Promotions Manager should have a minimum of 1-2 years or commensurate experience in a marketing/advertising/promotional role that includes writing/editing, campaign coordination, and an understanding of basic analytics across digital channels.
  • The ideal candidate is a KCRW fan who is excited about the opportunity to boost the independent voice of culture in Southern California to unite curious minds and create a more informed community.
  • This is a full-time, non-exempt position reporting to the Communications Director. This position is in the SAG-AFTRA Bargaining Unit.
  • This is a full time position and attendance on-site at our Santa Monica office will be required and may vary depending on the tasks at hand.

Responsibilities:

  • Ongoing collaboration between Communications and other departments on a variety of promotional projects
  • Fulfillment of digital marketing activities, including website and app promotion, and coordination with other channel marketing leads (social, events, etc.)
  • Furthering marketing acquisition plans across digital, email, SEO, social, paid, PR, and direct, taking into consideration the audience’s path to membership
  • Developing creative assets and messaging
  • Editing and writing promotional copy
  • Executing on ticket giveaways and KCRW Presents agreements
  • Cross-training in newsletter platform and providing tech assistance to newsletter editors, including providing promotional banners and newsletter analytics to inform growth strategy; assistance editing/proofing suite of newsletters as needed
  • Regular reporting on launch metrics and ongoing campaign performance to identify opportunities for optimization


Skills & Experience:

  • Love of copywriting, grammar (+ some humor and irreverence), tone, and the ability of words to create an emotional connection
  • Well-organized and timely project manager who can keep the trains running on time with diplomacy
  • Strong communicator who can represent the organization in external communications with content and distribution partners
  • Strategic thinker who can focus our promotional activities to grow membership, our ultimate metric of success
  • A good eye with digital and print ad design, such as newsletter, banner, social
  • Familiarity with the audio and podcast landscape and third-party platforms a plus (Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Pandora, smart speakers)
  • Familiarity and experience with SEO, paid media, audience conversion metrics, and A/B testing, a plus
  • Familiarity with HubSpot or other email platforms, a plus
  • Must be a great collaborator (very comfortable sharing work and knowledge), communicator, and listener
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, training and experience


Compensation & Benefits: 

  • The union minimum hourly rate for this position is $25.96/hour
