ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work Readiness Preparation
  • Responsible for the implementation and facilitation of job readiness training curricula for after-school members, student-members attending our partner school, and IMPACT program participants, in preparation for the APCH internship/externship and/or job placement opportunities
  • Conduct principles for developing soft skills among members
  • Responsible for scheduling, coordinating, and facilitating exercises such as mock interviews with members, in preparation for potential employment opportunities
  • Coordinate with the APCH Volunteer Manager to place volunteers in PREP to assist with job readiness components like mock interviews, resume review, and facilitating soft skills workshops
  • Responsible for assessing and documenting members work readiness progress
  • Career Exploration & Exposure
  • Inspire the imaginations and future thinking of members through coordinating a wide array of career exploration opportunities, such as workshops, guest speakers, field trips, and employer site visits
  • With support from the Sr. PREP Manager, expose and educate members on vocational/trade training programs and career pathways
  • Responsible for database population and management of career-related opportunities, including internship, externship, job shadowing, jobs/careers, vocational training, career fairs, etc.
  • Support the Sr. Manager of PREP with the production of an annual career fair to expose and engage members in career and vocational training options
  • With support from Sr. PREP Manager and Higher Education team, facilitate educational workshops for parents and members to understand multiple possible post-secondary pathways
  • Career Guidance
  • Collaborate with Sr. PREP Manager, to create individualized career plans for members that support their career pathways and goals by providing additional job readiness instruction and preparation, including: Prepare members for internship and externship programs through assessments, mock interviews, assistance with resume and cover letter preparation, application completion, etc.
  • Responsible for the administration and reporting of career assessments for all members in high school, and providing resources to help all high school members identify and focus their strengths, skills and passions
  • Assist members in identifying relevant experience, education, and resources needed to pursue career interests that align with their strengths, skills, and passions
  • Work Experience Support
  • Assist members with researching and applying to job and training opportunities
  • Assist Sr. Manager in planning and executing PREPs training components supporting the completion of paperwork, administering stipends and other resources for members, and addressing challenges
  • APCH Internship
  • Coordinate APCHs internship program to provide members with work experience within APCH departments; includes coordinating with department heads, recruiting participants, developing job descriptions, training, evaluations, processing timesheets, and other tasks related to the internship program
  • Facilitate internship orientation, supervisory meetings with interns & internship supervisors, and intern professional development opportunities.
  • Collect data regarding intern performance in order to track program effectiveness and provide constructive feedback to interns
  • Collaboration with Educational Partner & Opportunity Youth Programming
  • With support from Senior Manager of PREP, coordinate workshops, advisories, and other job readiness programming for members from the Educational Partner
  • Collaborate with Educational Partners staff to provide individualized plans and opportunities for members, with an emphasis on post-secondary plans for members about to graduate
  • Alignment and Collaboration with Social Enterprise & Entrepreneurship Program
  • Promote creative workshops and engage youth in career exploration, and in our innovative Social Enterprise & Entrepreneurship Program(SEE).
  • Collaborate with SEE staff to integrate SEE program opportunities into PREP
  • Partner with SEE manager to create career readiness project based learning opportunities which will prepare members for the workplace
  • Collaborate with Sr. PREP manager and SEE manager to develop curriculum which builds on the entrepreneurial mindset like critical thinking, adaptability, self reliance, and grit
  • Administrative Duties
  • Develop qualitative and quantitative program goals for job readiness, the APCH Internship Program, career assessments and other components of the PREP program
  • Stay abreast of vocational/job readiness best industry practices
  • Responsible for tracking and providing data to be included in monthly/annual department reports, grant reports, board reports and others as requested
  • Track member engagement and resources and provide monthly reports
  • Assist with the supervision of members during program hours, special events and field trips
  • Maintain a tracking system for member participation in PREP, including vocational programs, education/training opportunities, job shadowing and employment
  • Assist with the implementation of program evaluation
  • Assist with planning and coordination of special departmental and agency events
  • Execute assigned administrative duties in a timely manner
  • Execute administrative duties, including, but not limited to, submitting check requests, tracking department budget, producing case management notes, and completing necessary paperwork
  • Serve as a mentor and role model for members
  • Attend all required program meetings
  • Perform other tasks as assigned

Education/Training/Experience

  • Two years experience working with teen and young adult population providing career/vocational guidance
  • Two years working in an office environment
  • Experience in facilitation or instruction to youth
  • Experience in job readiness curriculum development and implementation


Physical and Mental Demands

  • Able to work in a dynamic and high noise level environment typical of a youth center
  • Walking, standing required on daily basis
  • Sitting and use of hands/vision for computer work for extended periods of time
  • Lift up to 25 pounds occasionally
  • Able to communicate and convey accurate information

APCH COVID-19 Vaccination Policy
