Every dollar invested in community organizing yields a $90 return in community benefits through progressive policy change. We support organizers who are tackling injustice with our three-pronged strategy: grantmaking, training, and alliance building.

Position Overview

Reporting to the Director of Public Partnerships (P3s), the Program Manager will manage emPOWER program implementation, priorities, and processes of the guidance of the P3 Senior Program Manager, and in collaboration with the program administrator, and community partners, key P3s across the portfolios of the Environmental Justice (EJ) and Housing Justice (HJ) teams.

What you will do:

  • Manage communication between grantees, funders, and program team members
  • Collaborate with community-based organizations (CBO) and programmatic partners to manage timelines and streamline workflow
  • Support trainings to CBO staff about related to programs and outreach to communities
  • Monitor project plans, budgets, and deliverables in collaboration with the finance team
  • Develop and maintains relationships with key staff of stakeholders
  • Support CBO data collection, analysis, and maintenance associated with programs
  • Actively incorporate CBO feedback and reflections into intake systems, and suitable data management processes
  • Identify and troubleshoot issues in data management systems
  • Develop foundation reports, and proposals
  • Participate in local/regional/statewide meetings related to environmental and economic justice issues and climate-related investments in disadvantaged communities
  • Ensure synergy with programmatic work
  • Develop and facilitates outreach presentations related to project and program activity
  • Manage projects including strategy while ensuring updates on fulfilling goals and objectives
  • Implement and improve project evaluation plan and performance analysis

Desired Skills and Experience
You will have:

  • Advanced degree or equivalent combination of education, training and professional and lived experience
  • 3+ years progressively responsible experience in nonprofit, government or labor union programs or campaigns
  • Familiarity with local organizations focusing on social justice and community organizing
  • Knowledge of inequities around economic and environmental justice issues including utility debt, and access to clean energy and transportation incentives is a plus
  • Experience leading organizing, policy advocacy or outreach programs
  • Experience managing multi-racial/multi-ethnic coalitions
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite, Google Drive, and Zoom
  • Experience with Salesforce a plus
  • Basic graphic design skills
  • Fluency in Spanish (written and oral) strongly preferred
  • Commitment to justice, equality, diversity and inclusion
  • Availability to attend an in-person meeting at least monthly in Los Angeles
