The Development and Communications Intern will report to the Executive Director and work with various departments in the organization to support the organization's marketing and fundraising goals. The Development and Communications Intern as part of a team will ensure that marketing and promotion of the organization's activities align with production timelines, exhibition content, and event marketing. PLEASE NOTE: APPLICANTS MUST BE A CURRENT COLLEGE STUDENT.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Write copy for our social media posts on various platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
  • Write copy for & schedule the organization’s newsletter.
  • Monitoring the organization’s and social media platforms, engaging with audience members & responding to inquiries.
  • Updating the organization’s donor database & maintaining communications with donors and sponsors, including mailing & tracking marketing materials, delivering & organizing assets
  • Updating the organization’s website relating to our photography programs and annual events.
  • Assist with mailings, filing, and special projects, as needed.

Desired Skills

  • Excellent knowledge of social media platforms: Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn & TikTok
  • Squarespace knowledge highly desirable
  • Knowledge of project management platforms such as Airtable and Asana desired
  • Excellent writing abilities
  • Creative mindset.
  • Ability to multitask
  • Ability to work in a team
  • Interest in growing within the nonprofit sector
  • Strong interpersonal skills and attention to detail

We anticipate the intern to work 25-40 hours per week between June 2022 to December 2022 for a total of 400 hours. The intern hourly rate for this position as set forth by LA County Department of Arts & Culture is $16.04.
