Description

Inner City Law Center (ICLC) is a nonprofit law firm in Skid Row in Downtown Los Angeles. We are looking for extraordinary people to help us end homelessness in Los Angeles. Founded on the fundamental principle that every person should always be treated with dignity and respect, ICLC fights for justice for low-income tenants, working-poor families, people experiencing homelessness, people living with HIV/AIDS, people with disabilities, and homeless veterans.

Position Description: ICLC seeks a dynamic Communications Specialist to develop, implement, and oversee the organization’s marketing and digital media portfolios. The Communications Specialist will be part of ICLC’s Development Team and focus on external stakeholder engagement and public relations.  The Communications Specialist will:

  • Develop and implement a strategic communications plan for marketing and fundraising to effectively communicate ICLC’s mission and increase community support; 
  • Manage ICLC’s website to ensure that content is engaging, current, and accurate;
  • Create and disseminate donor newsletters, email campaigns, and social media posts;
  • Serve as ICLC’s branding and design expert, ensuring all external content is consistent with established design and editorial standards;
  • Create all printed, recorded, and electronic materials for ICLC’s Annual Fundraising Event;
  • Collaborate with internal staff to elevate ICLC’s role as a leader and expert on housing and homelessness issues; and
  • Oversee the work of multiple consultants and contractors responsible for graphic design, video production, and digital media.

 

Hiring Criteria: Commitment to ICLC's mission and values and a demonstrated understanding of issues affecting low-income communities and communities of color. Demonstrated history of leading and supporting successful communications and marketing initiatives. The ideal candidate would have at least three years of experience in marketing, communications, or public relations. Excellent communication and writing skills. Innovative and solution-oriented. Ability to assume responsibility quickly and work independently and collaboratively. Ability to use good judgment, multitask, and meet deadlines. Demonstrated ability to navigate both traditional and digital media.
