Communities In Schools of Los Angeles (CISLA) seeks an experienced and passionate leader to join its Programs department during a period of growth. CISLA currently serves students in thirteen Los Angeles public schools and aims to grow to serve 50 schools in the next ten years.

POSITION SUMMARY
CISLA seeks a dynamic leader to oversee multiple school site teams in implementing the CISLA Program Model successfully and effectively. The Program Manager (PM) will provide support to all site teams and individual team members to meet their respective benchmarks and goals, in addition to developing program opportunities to further achieve a collective organizational vision.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Site Program Management

  • Leads with accountability; manages site teams to achieve the successful implementation of CISLA programs
  • Trains, coaches and builds teams at each identified CISLA school site to ensure all programmatic deadlines and metrics are met and/or exceeded
  • Acts as liaison between site teams, CISLA Chief Program Director, and the Collective Management Team 
  • Collaborates closely with all team members to create, measure, and showcase impact results
  • Works with Chief Program Director to set, align, and reach goals for each site and across schools to build out programmatic work for greater impact
  • Build and manage programmatic budgets

 

Program Staff Development

  • Partners with Chief Program Director, in the planning, coordination, and facilitation of All-Staff Meetings, Program Collectives, Teambuilding, and Professional Development
  • Works with the Chief Program Director and the Operations team in the processes of recruiting, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and continued professional development of Site Staff
  • Coordinates and facilitates new hire orientation and training for CISLA site staff including setting goals and providing ongoing one-to-one coaching that drives results and cultivates a value – based culture accountability
  • Regularly evaluates Site Directors and co-facilitates evaluations of Site Coordinators to ensure organizational goals are being met 
  • Provides ongoing supervision, feedback, coaching, mentoring, and counseling of site directors/coordinators; supports the team’s professional growth and development; builds stronger team connections, and improves processes
  • Acts as the bridge between the site staff and the administration team, creating stronger connections and fostering a healthy team culture that drives results and builds trust
  • Takes disciplinary action when required to ensure individual best performances and team cohesion

 

Relationship to School & Community

  • Develops and nurtures a heightened level of communication and connection with school site leadership, faculties, staff, in addition to public and private agencies; raises the profile of the agency within partner schools and districts
  • Represents the CISLA vision, mission, and values in community spaces to increase visibility and thought partnership in Los Angeles; embraces advocacy for our work
  • Maintains consistent communication with the Chief Program Director and the Collective Management Team on community-related matters, appropriately assessing and elevating concerns and/or news so that the organization can act in a timely matter

 

Internal & External Program Representation

  • Builds strong relationships with the Development and Operations teams to achieve organizational goals and ensure the accuracy of program and personnel reporting; strengthens communication and alignment across functions
  • Elevates the perspectives of the program staff and community in decision-making spaces; drives collaboration, cohesion, and alignment
  • Represents CISLA within the greater CIS National network
  • Integrates up-to-date CIS National mandates and guidance in CISLA program implementation 

 

Data Management

  • Partners with the Data and Evaluation Manager to build out impact measurements for the organization, including reporting timeframes and required reports for grantors
  • Engages in proactive data analysis of CISLA school sites to improve program implementation and communication of impact to all stakeholders
  • Supports school sites in interpreting data and ensure CISLA staff is implementing data-informed, evidence-based programming 
  • Ensures programmatic staff are meeting all data deadlines with accurate information

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in education, social work, or public policy, and at least 5 years of professional work experience in youth development, education, human/social services, and/or non-profit management required. A graduate degree in Social Work (e.g. MSW) and/or Counseling (e.g. PPS Credential) strongly preferred
  • Knowledge and experience with a wide range of community resources, including but not limited to education, child/youth development, and social services. Experience with Los Angeles-area K-12 public schools highly desirable.
  • Minimum three years’ experience in managing, coaching, leading and developing a team of empowered full-time professionals to achieve desired goals and measurable results
  • Advanced ability in managing human resources and employee relations issues in a fair and consistent manner; practice servant leadership to build a healthy team culture that exceeds expectations and delivers results
  • Able to build effective and collaboration relationships with internal and external stakeholders, partners, and communities; able to toggle between the culture at individual school sites and that at CISLA
  • Highly motivated, positive, resourceful, innovative, and flexible team player committed to cultivating a values-driven organizational culture
  • Effective and proficient communicator (written, verbal, and facilitation skills)
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, initiative, discretion, integrity, and decision making in the best interest of the organization 
  • Excels in managing and executing multiple projects with exceptional time-management skills
  • Possess a heightened, in-depth understanding of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion principles 
  • Ability to supervise others effectively, on both a formal basis (supervisory responsibility and authority) and an informal basis. Consistently demonstrates compliance with all agency policies and procedures.
  • Maintains the confidentiality of all CIS related information.

 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Criminal background check required
  • Must have a reliable automobile for use on the job (mileage to be reimbursed). Valid California Driver's License. State-required automobile insurance coverage
  • TB clearance, to be renewed every two years
  • Criminal background check required
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination required (digital record).

  • Ability to drive plus the availability of a vehicle to use for getting to and from meetings, other events, and for the occasional transport of others. 
  • Valid California driver's license and the ability to obtain necessary auto insurance for the above purposes.
  • Must be able to observe and hear students, staff, and providers across a wide range of settings and interpret those observations for assessment, research, evaluation, and reporting. Must be able to work occasional evenings, weekends, and/or early mornings to cover work responsibilities.
