As Meteorite’s in-house graphic designer, you will join a small team of passionate changemakers with deep experience designing and building coalitions that create positive social impact in the worlds of civic engagement, public health, and education. We are seeking candidates who can apply art, design, and copy layout skills to create visually engaging concepts such as logos, promotional and branding materials, communication media, and other print and digital materials.

You will be integrated seamlessly into our team, working closely with the digital content manager and the entire team in every stage of our work, from client proposal to launch, and the day to day maintenance and iteration phases.  All Meteorite team-members are expected to contribute to our strategic planning, offer new ideas, take ownership of assigned projects, and manage tight deadlines. 

Duties/ Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with teammates, clients, Digital Content Manager, and/or other project participants to understand project assignment, audience, and intended message.
  • Creates original visual media that communicates the desired feeling or message in an engaging and unified way.
  • Chooses graphics, clip art, and stock photography, as appropriate; 
  • Selects fonts for written copy; produces sample layout for approval by client or other project participants.
  • Prepare drafts of design work and provides samples to colleagues and clients for review.
  • Revise projects as necessary based on collaborative feedback process. 
  • Manages print orders.
  • Maintain records of billable project time as required.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.


Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign or other similar design software. 
  • Organized with high attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently, anticipate needs, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as a member of a team. 
  • Views work product through a lens of diversity,  equity, and inclusion, challenging yourself, your teammates, and the entire firm to be antiracist 
  • Communicates regularly with colleagues on status, timeline, deliverables.
  • Ability to successfully organize, prioritize, and manage project workflow, juggle multiple tasks under tight deadline
  • Ability to make decisions in a changing environment--Experience working for a fast-paced organization, firm/agency or in an electoral campaign, a plus.
  • Strong team player that has a customer service approach and is solution-oriented
  • Ability to work individually and proactively, within a multi-disciplinary team

Compensation & Benefits

  • Meteorite is a fully remote organization, with team members in Los Angeles, Portland, Washington, DC and New York City. Candidate must be in the U.S., legally allowed to work in the U.S. and willing to keep PST schedule as needed.

  • We heavily leverage technologies such as Zoom, Slack, and Google Drive for team communication and collaboration.
  • Salary range: $70,000-$80,000 depending on experience.
