Alliance is now one of the largest and most successful public charter school networks in the nation, operating 26 high-performing middle and high schools serving 13,000 scholars in Los Angeles communities that have been systematically oppressed. In our 17th school year, Alliance has a proven record of success: though 93% of incoming sixth graders come to Alliance reading below grade level, 95% of Alliance graduates have been accepted to college—including 73% to a four-year university. Reporting to the Director, Business Operations, the Manager, Business Operations will oversee major school operational functions to ensure Alliance develops exemplary operational systems and implements best-in-class operations across Alliance school campuses. The Manager, Business Operations will build relationships across Alliance campuses to ensure customer satisfaction while supporting functional areas to day-to-day operations. As the Manager, Business Operations you will collaborate with members on the larger Operations team to deliver and execute strategic projects. Building Operational Systems and Processes

Manage specific functional areas of responsibility, currently including: attendance, nutrition, safety & emergency response, scholar health, compliance reporting and internal program reviews; Identify and codify best practices across nationwide charter management networks and school systems; Project manage cross-functional work across the Operations team and network, including annual processes (e.g. cross-functional development of the operations data dashboards and Parent-Scholar Handbook, school operations staff professional development planning, etc.), developing and implementing project plans; Establish relationship with School Operations team and collaborate to improve operations support, including coordinating bi-weekly operations-focused calls and managing the development of the weekly operations work guidance in order to more effectively communicate operational priorities to schools; Design and facilitate in-person training sessions and webinars on key operational systems, processes and tools to support the development of school operations staff; and Serve as a thought partner to the Director, Business Operations on cross-departmental projects, opportunities for cross-collaboration, process improvement, and problem solving.

Compliance Management and Reporting 

Lead the completion and submission of operations-related compliance reports to Los Angeles Unified School District, California Department of Education and additional external entities related to operational functional areas (e.g. nutrition, attendance, health, etc.); Manage internal school reviews to identify areas of improvement in school-based operational systems and procedures while ensuring compliance to federal, state, and authorizer requirements; and Monitor scholar data related to operational functions and consult with the Data team to ensure data accuracy through the development of effective data collection processes, resources, and systems. 

Data-Driven Decision Making 

Conceptualize and execute data analysis from various information systems to develop strategic recommendations for school site and Home Office related functional areas; and Present key findings and recommendations to the larger Operations team.

Customer Service and Relationships 

Build relationships and communicate with Alliance school campuses to support operations best in class customer service; Identify and design an operations system to ensure improvements in customer service, accuracy, and overall school campus satisfaction; and Other duties as assigned by the Director, Business Operations to support school campus operations.

  • Strong project management skills with strong attention to detail and ability to efficiently and simultaneously manage multiple projects, escalating issues as needed

  • Strong analytic and systems thinking necessary to interpret data to inform strategy and project management, as well as build infrastructure where none exists
  • Proven ability to navigate complex issues and ambiguity and achieve results
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and ability to research/track down key information
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office, Google-based applications, and Zoom

At least 3 years of professional work experience and a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university; 


At least 5 years of professional work experience and a HS Diploma or equivalent (e.g. G.E.D.)

At least 2 years of project management and communications experience in education setting, preferred.


This position is remote and will work virtually in the greater Los Angeles area, with travel to school sites once public health conditions allow. The successful candidate will be given a $400 work from home set-up allowance and receive a monthly stipend of $100.


In alignment with our commitment to equity for our scholars, Alliance is committed to equity and transparency for our team and offer competitive salaries commensurate with experience and education, as well as an employer-sponsored 403b plan annual contribution equal to 5% of regular earnings, and a comprehensive group health benefits package, including medical, dental and vision. This position is exempt. The compensation range for this position is $67,000 - $93,000. To allow room for growth in compensation, the maximum initial salary placement is 80% of the range.
