The Planning Report/VerdeXchange is currently in search of an associate editor at our Downtown LA  office/remotely for ~20 hrs/week at $15/hr.  This is a part-time intern/entry-level opportunity for someone who's perhaps still in school or recently graduated and has an interest in LA civic affairs, city planning, public transportation, infrastructure and/or the green economy.
The Planning Report, located in downtown LA (The Bloc) is a long-running publication covering planning/land-use/public infrastructure investment in the Los Angeles region. We print interviews with public policy makers throughout the state, including local councilmembers, county supervisors, general managers, state legislators, planners, developers, architects etc. Our aim is to elevate the discourse shaping the built environment of LA.

And for 15 years, VerdeXchange is an annual clean and green tech marketmakers’ conference that connects the dots on "what's in market, about to be in market, and needed in market" to propel the global clean energy economy. We publish VX News quarterly as a supplement to the conference. While we did a virtual conference last year,  we anticipate possibly being in-person again at the end of January 2022.

The TPR/VX associate editor is responsible for:
1. Assisting the editor in production of The Planning Report.  These duties include but are not limited to transcribing interviews, researching news items, social media engagement, and various tasks associated with production and distribution of the newsletter.
2. Assisting the editor with communications management for the VerdeXchange conference. These duties include but are not limited to creating and organizing conference materials, participating in team conference calls and meetings, and various tasks associated with conference preparation.
Currently, most tasks can be handled remotely, but will likely require a few days per week at our (transit-accessible) office in DTLA. Apple, Adobe (InDesign/Photoshop/Illustrator), and Social Media savvy along with an interest in the subject would make this a rewarding and worthwhile experience

To apply

Interested applicants can send resume, brief cover letter & short writing sample (~250 words/news summary/social media posts etc) to [email protected]
