Inspired by a sense of care and compassion for all of the people who work to build a better world, as well as to support the many causes and movements for which they work, The Wellbeing Project is focused on both cultivating a shift in the field of social change toward one that is healthier and more supportive of inner wellbeing, and on catalyzing the development of a new infrastructure to better support everyone working in the field. 

We’re excited to create a new leadership role, Chief Brand Officer and Storytelling Lead, to lead our Storytelling, Communications and Marketing Function. 

We are looking for someone who has at least 10 years of significant experience with marketing, communications and storytelling work, a keen passion for social change and a deep interest in personal work. We are looking for candidates who have experience building and leading social movements through coalition-building, developing content by collaborating with media outlets, delivering compelling narratives, and activating creative community engagement. We are looking for candidates who are native-level English speakers, organized, detail-oriented, can work independently and in a fast-paced environment, and are strongly entrepreneurial, solutions-oriented and collaborative. And someone who enjoys having fun! 


The Chief Brand Officer and Storytelling Lead will work at full-time capacity and will report directly to the Project Leads. In this role, the Chief Brand Officer and Storytelling Lead will oversee the Project’s marketing, communications, and storytelling activities to further our mission to put inner wellbeing at the heart of social change. This individual will also develop campaigns and content coalitions. This work is focused on strengthening the cultural shift towards wellbeing, as well as the Project's evolving community, ultimately driving transformational social change. 


We are looking for someone who meets the following requirements: 

  • Graduate or other advanced degree: communications and/or marketing. 
  • Native or very strong English. 
  • Work experience: At least 10 years experience with a broad range of marketing, communications and storytelling work at a senior level, and at least 5 years team management experience. Expert communicator and brand builder: You have a strong understanding of storytelling and coalition building fundamentals, and you are on top of and know how to leverage the latest tools and trends for effective marketing and communications. 
  • Strategic: you operate at organizational level, connecting different functions to execute strategy.

Strategy, Vision and Leadership of Marketing, Communications and Storytelling Activities: Build and execute a robust and cohesive communications strategy that delivers a compelling narrative, strengthens the Project’s brand while activating a broader movement around our mission. More specifically, this includes: 

  • Brand & Creative Oversight : Oversee the development and execution of the Project’s vision, visual and creative identity, and messaging; broadening awareness of the Project’s programs, events and priorities across key stakeholder audiences. 
  • Storytelling/Movement-Building: Design and curate a compelling narrative that brings our mission, our community and impact to life. Promote integrated movement-building strategies across marketing/communications disciplines (i.e., media relations, digital media, team communications, branding and identity, community relations) and convenings. 
  • Oversee delivery through distribution channels: Develop strategies, plans and tactics to mobilize new audiences through digital management, event production, PR and Media management. 


Partnerships to drive Culture Change: The heart of the Project’s work is mainstreaming the issue of wellbeing. Building off the success of our Centered Life series done in partnership with Stanford Social Innovation Review / India Development Review / Skoll article series this role will develop new suites of mainstream media partners / outlets to raise awareness on the topic of wellbeing and social change, to contribute to a growing credible knowledge base for the field, to amplify the movement’s call to action, and to generally further the shift towards a culture of wellbeing. 

Team Development and Management: Team management, including goals-setting, performance management and continuous growth and development; external support and/or freelancer management; and budget and resources management. Team Management also includes overseeing a vendor and agency portfolio focused on driving impact through storytelling, networks, and convenings.

  • Start ASAP, and at least until December 2025. 
  • Compensation is appropriate to the social sector. 
  • This will be an employment contract for a full time role based anywhere in the world with a preference for Europe or the East Coast of the United States.
