Description

The College and Career Pathways Coordinator will be hired by LAEP and supervised by the Director of Community Schools. In partnership with LAEP’s school-based staff, the coordinator will support the development of sustainable systems of student, school and family supports that ensure students graduate from high school ready for college, career and life.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Collaborates with community school coordinators, teachers, counselors, partners, parents and students to develop and implement college & career related curricula, programs and events across 15 LAUSD schools, 11,500 students and their families
  • Supports each school’s development of an individualized program and curriculum that incorporates LAEP’s model of ensuring students are college, career and life ready
  • Leverages feeder pattern schools, school staff, partners to support sustainable college and career readiness programming
  • Collaborates with community school coordinators, teachers, counselors, partners, parents and students to develop and implement targeted college and career-related curricula, programs and events across LAEP partner schools.
  • Creates student-centered transition programs that increase matriculation across partner schools. 
  • Implements holistic programming that addresses the socio-emotional, mental, and physical wellbeing of students and their families.
  • Leverages community organizations and volunteers to increase opportunities for learning and support sustainable college and career readiness programming
  • Recruits and outreaches to the community at-large to diversify and increase resources, volunteers, and internship/leadership opportunities for students.
  • Creates partnerships with local organizations and companies to create workforce readiness opportunities, including internships, apprenticeships, job shadowing, and summer internships. 
  • Oversees and supervises the collection and input of evaluation data used to measure on-going program effectiveness of service providers and progress towards collaborative goals
  • Represents LAEP and participates in college- and career-related networks and initiatives, including LAEP professional development
  • Process documentation as required for administrative procedures, including invoices, timesheets and evaluation materials and tracking logs
  • Maintains unique partnerships and programs for LAEP partner schools including internship programs, college classes and scholarships
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

  • 3 years experience working with first generation students
  • 3 years minimum direct experience coordinating and/or managing college and career access and success programming, including academic advising/counseling, curriculum development, workforce readiness, and building a strategic college-going culture
  • Proven track record in driving graduation and persistence outcomes
  • Commitment to racial and educational equity and continuous improvement
  • Strong ability to navigate diverse groups and demonstrates dynamic relationship-building skills
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills; strong written and interpersonal skills 
  • Experience working with individuals with diverse ethnic backgrounds
  • Experience presenting and facilitating, with strong oral, written, and presentation skills
  • Hardworking, innovative, collaborative, adaptive, solution-oriented, with a demonstrated ability to lead self-directed work in a fast-paced environment
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) and Google Apps (Drive, Sheets, Docs)
  • BA required, preferably with field experience in education, counseling or social work 

 

Licensing and Certifications (If Applicable)

  • Daily driving could be required, must provide own vehicle, valid Driver's License and proof of full vehicle insurance.
  • BA required, preferably with field experience in education, counseling or social work 
  • Negative tuberculosis screen (required);
  • Must pass criminal background check.
