Destination Crenshaw’s mission is to improve the quality of life and revitalize the economy in South Los Angeles through arts and culture. As one of the largest Black communities west of the Mississippi River, Destination Crenshaw is an unprecedented community-led project that will celebrate the 200+ year history of Black activism in L.A. Through education, arts, and culture, Destination Crenshaw will cement itself as a cultural hub that will facilitate economic security and entrepreneurship for residents as a method of place-keeping and community building.

Position Description:
Daily reporting for this position is to the President & COO. Assignments will be primarily from the President & COO but may also come from other Destination Crenshaw leadership team members on behalf of the President & COO. This position's primary responsibility is maintaining the appointment schedule for the President & COO and performing various supportive duties.

The Executive Assistant will provide a wide variety of skilled administrative and clerical support for the President & COO. Responsibilities involve exposure to sensitive information and require considerable use of tact, diplomacy, discretion, and judgment, attending board or similar meetings to take, transcribe and distribute minutes; assisting in the preparation of board packets; maintaining databases; researching/analyzing data and develops reports for management decision-making; may follow up on projects assigned to managers by the President & COO.

Executive Assistant Responsibilities

  • Maintains President & COO's appointment schedule by planning and scheduling meetings, conferences, teleconferences, and travel
  • Prepares documents, speeches and papers on behalf of the President & COO
  • Produces information by transcribing, formatting, inputting, editing, retrieving, copying, and transmitting text, data, and graphics
  • Conserves President & Chief Operating Officer's time by reading, researching, and routing correspondence; drafting letters and documents; collecting and analyzing information; initiating telecommunications
  • Maintains confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential
  • Maintains office supplies inventory by anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; verifying receipt of supplies

 

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree and a skill-set equipped for a high-level administrative role
  • Personal initiative and self-motivation skills with a good dose of humility, sense of humor, and willingness to go the extra mile
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment where each day brings new ideas and opportunities
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work with, and earn the respect and confidence of internal and external partners
  • Ability to communicate new ideas and strategic thinking in a written format that appeals to donors
  • Demonstrated ability in scheduling and travel logistics
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; confidence in communicating across a wide variety of platforms, including electronic, written, and in-person to articulate clear, structured, and persuasive proposals and related correspondence
  • Comfortable with analytical thinking and setting practical, achievable targets
  • Strong editing skills with attention to detail and fact-checking skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Experience using Nationbuilder and/or other sources to locate biographical, financial, and philanthropic information a plus
